PART 1: (Friday 2 June) Had occasion to visit the Clinic in Dauin - the one across the road from the dog arena. I'd slipped over on the boat ramp and gashed my arm. Lorraine suggested stitches, so I went. Was there a couple of hours. Registered, file opened, vitals taken. Inspected, wound cleaned, diagnosed. Swabbed, stitched (4), medication prescribed. The treatment all-up cost 500p. Medication (painkiller, anti-biotic) about 1000p. Very nice doctors, nurses, pharmacy and support staff. Went home, cursed the boat ramp and the cats whose kitty-litter tray I'd been emptying off the boat ramp.

PART 2: (Wednesday 7 June) Wound became infected - no pain, but swelling. Went back, 3 persons looked, probed, realized that their pharmacy hadn't had the correct anti-biotic on Friday and had substituted an inferior generic. New script, emphasizing I get a name pill rather than a generic from a Dauin pharmacy, 15 minutes, no cost. Back on Friday to have stitches removed.

SUMMARY: Very pleasant, professional, compassionate service. (Why am I not surprised?). And in-expensive... I like living here.

Don't confuse 1st world generic companies that must still meet strict guidelines with other companies in countries that aren't so particular. So, yes they are the same - if a reputable company, there are many that are not.

Yes, Mr Oinks, I've believed that too - patent out of time, other companies make the exactly the same thing, cheaper. Good for the poorer countries... But here we are, in the so-called 3rd World? Different standards...? And I must say, after a day on the 'name' tablets they said I should ask for, the swellings gone down.

We also ended up there around 1am on mon with a sick kid. Very good service from the dr and nurses and p195 consultation fee.
I think you mean across the road from dauin cockpit art not the dog arena!
Run by siliman and far better than going to that hellhole in town and waiting all day.
