I work in Korea and none of my staff are worried about the bravado going back and forth, though I do have a friend working in Japan that says folks are tripping a bit there. I personally have no worries.

Well said, so what is your recommendation? I happen to think the Vietnam war was the biggest mistake in my lifetime, although the invasion of Bagdad is close behind. As a former U.S. Marine I am against the U.S. losing young men in foreign wars.

I think the intentions being shouted out loud and clear by NK, however much bluff it is, makes a landing of their missile on any country a very serious matter. I am aware of their past attacks on the South and they should have been dealt with then (or probably before). I continue to worry that everyone is afraid of the bully with one nuclear weapon (and other mass conventional weapons) and so lets him gain two. Then being even more scared, they let him get three.... you get the picture. Eventually he has HUNDREDS, all mobile and many on subs. What then? He demands free trade, cash, land from South Korea, Guam? The time we are giving him is the difference between a disastrous conflict and Armageddon.

I am not American but I think the USA and every country in the World has the right to decide who is threatening them and what they intend to do about it in order to protect their country. The wise man looks far forward and analyses intentions, the fool waits for events to happen.

Just in case I am told that the USA is threatening NK and so NK has the right to obtain nuclear weapons, I reply now that if NK had not acted in the past in such an aggressive way and was willing to strike a diplomatic deal, there would be no crisis. North Vietnam did not possess nuclear weapons but won its war against the USA and its use of conventional weapons (not nukes, even though it owned them). I am not sure what the USA or any country thinks about a communist-governed united Vietnam, but they appear to be getting on very well economically and functioning as a State without the need to acquire nuclear weapons. Although the analogy is not exact (in that NK should never be allowed to govern a United Korea), there could be much trade and other co-operation between NK and SK and peaceful coexistence is not at all impossible. The only problem is that NK is ruled by a nut-case who is in great danger of miscalculation and that miscalculation need only be minor for the end result to be major. As a UK citizen, I am proud to have the United States of America on my side and would rather endure 1 million years of their rule than 1 year of NK's ideology.

I don't think trade sanctions will work in a country where the leadership is willing to see its people starve and die so that the 'greater good' (in the leaders' eyes) prevail. The elimination of 'The Fat One' by one of his own close personnel or an attack by China from the north seems the best solutions. I hope the US would accept the latter IF China assures them it will withdraw again but create a buffer zone between a new united Korea and itself. This new united Korea would be a far better trading partner for China than is North Korea. The reason this might not happen is the Chinese are worried their people will see liberty being given to those under dictatorship and it might give them ideas.

I suppose Russia and China might not be pleased at all. We don't want a 3rd world war, do we. That little moron, Kim wotisname seems a bit childish seeing how far he can push US. Need to get China on the act with trade sanctions against North Korea.

If a potential killer is acquiring one gun per week, then would you stop him when he has one gun or ten or one hundred? For those who (quite rightly on conscience) do not want military action against NK, they need to consider at what point the problem becomes too big to handle without unimaginable loss of life.

If that is the very best China can come up with (to remove a possible defence for SK against the madman next door) then they cease to count. Better they use their huge influence within NK to get the Fat Boy removed (dead or alive).

The fact of the matter is that no North Korean missile landed on anyone's head, let's get that straight. The only thing that was injured was Japan's and America's ego. The fact that it landed near Japan is irrelevant because it was in international waters and it wasn't armed.
Every country has a right to have a nuclear bomb if they so desire. America thinks they own the world and have the right to decide who can and who can't.
Nuclear weapons should have been banned 60 years ago worldwide and if there is a nuclear war now we deserve it for being so stupid.

China needs to get her finger out, she's spouting off at the US that this needs to end peacefully. Yet refuse's to start sanctions against NK. Sames goes for Russia.
