International doesn't necessarily mean that it will be a large airport. It only means that there are connecting flights to international destinations. If Dumaguete airport had direct connection with terminal one, Manila. Then little Dumaguete airport could be classified as an international airport.

It means that larger planes will able to land on a suitable runway, much bigger than the one on Sibulan.

Laoag in Ilocos Norte is an international airport. Aside from flights from Manila, there is a daily flight from Taipei, for the Laoag casino. The airport is about the size of Dumaguete's.

Jan 21, 2017 · Aviation video - The definition of an international airport lies in the fact that it offers flights to or from at least one foreign country. The size of the airport facilities has nothing to do with it. All that it requires is, a customs facility.

Try and land a A380 on Sibulan runway.

Jim whilst I understand and to a degree agree with your Post I would say, it is not so much the Shorter Runway landing that would be the problem But the Shorter Runway take off

I am confused by your "connecting flight" definition- surely flying to Manila (whichever Terminal) and then connecting with a flight to a foreign country is what every airport in the Philippines already does (bar the small ones, such as Siquijor's).

There just is not the demand in Dumaguete and its surrounding areas to support an international airport. Pie in the sky.
