There will be another total Lunar eclipse visible from Dumaguete on the morning of Saturday, July 28. Totality begins at 3:30am and lasts till the Moon sets. At 3:30 am it will be 28deg above the Western horizon, so it will be visible above Mt. Talinis from Dumageute. Great photo op! Mars, very bright because its near opposition, will be just left of the eclipsed moon. Wow! The down side is that this will be rainy season. Hopefully the clouds will clear at some point so you can witness this cool apparition. The next total Lunar eclipse will not occur for another few years! It's worth getting up early for (or staying up late!). In case you missed the total eclipse last January, here are some images.
