Just thought I'd share a few images from the last couple of weeks. Staring at the sky keeps me out of trouble. Cass.jpg Moon.jpg Moon2.jpg Orion.jpg Saturn.jpg Sun.jpg

I use Canon's entry-level mirrorless camera: EOS M10. Chinese lens manufactures have jumped on the mirrorless bandwagon, so I have a collection of cheap, but very nice prime lenses. Most of the star images were taken with Meike's 50mm, f2.0 lens (which is actually a great portrait lens). For the telescopic Lunar and Solar images, I attach the camera directly to my scopes with a T-adapter (another China-made product!). I usually shoot in RAW format so I can reduce the luminance noise and enhance some of the features post-process. I'm not really an astrophotographer (I hate spending hours capturing and processing images), so all the images are single exposures, shot with high ISO (1600-3200) and long exposure times (10-30sec, depending on the focal length of the lens). Of course I use a tripod! prime focus.jpg prime focus2.jpg

    Thank you, @Dr. Ski

I have no clue of the secrets of photography, but I am able to say whether a picture is great, or not. And yours are outstanding. So clear, and wonderful colours. I admire that, and could watch them for hours.

    Great job, Dr. Ski.

Thanks, man! Very nice of you to say.
There really are no secrets. These new-fangled digital cameras make capturing and sharing images almost too easy. I wish I had them 40 years ago!
