If this comes about in my lifetime I would hope they put enforcers at these lights. My experiences with traffic lights in Bacolod, is when it turns red you can count at least 4 - 5 cars still going through the light. If you plan on stopping look in your rearview because the person behind might have another idea in mind. I know about yellow, speed up to beat the red. But I have actually seen people at least 50 meters or more away speed up when the light turns red so they don't have to stop. Just because you have a green light, proceed with caution. If the enforcers really stop these terrible drivers and hit them in the pocket book, then maybe they will learn to behave. But, since a general attitude of drivers seems to be, the law applies to everyone else, not me, I doubt this will help, it will probably lead to more accidents.

I would suggest the same for those illegal Imports that are continually being driven over by Bulldozers here. Some claim the Criminals will be the one who buys them back at the Auctions, silly when they will be paying double to buy them back again. I know being a member of a few Vintage/ Classic Car Pages here there would be plenty of competition from others wanting to own a cool Luxury Car or Bike! Destroying Cars only hurts those who need the money the most, but let's face it, if the Cars were sold at Auction, and the money went into Government coffers, it would only be a matter of time before that money found its way into fake projects paying the Politicians or Family members exorbitant amounts and those in need would still be in need. Sadly it is what it is.

Yesterday in the City we were in a Tricycle coming home from Silliman Hospital after 5pm. A Traffic Enforcer was standing in the middle of the road trying to direct Traffic, each time he stop one line to try and allow another through, Cars Trucks and Bikes would initially stop, then within 10 seconds would start creeping forwards again blocking the centre of the road. The Enforcer stopped our Tricycle, tried to get the flows moving, then; threw his hands up in the air and waved towards our Driver and said Go! GO! JUST GO! and walked off the road letting everyone go at it, he gave up! How well will Traffic Lights work when the intersection is completely blocked with these drivers pushing their way through regardless of instructions otherwise. They NEED to start issuing FINES for infringements committed.

Maintaining your vehicle and safety equipment and driving at speeds appropriate for road conditions (also not over-driving your headlights) are all part of being a good driver. The third-world is undoubtedly full of dangerous and shitty drivers.

throughout asia the thought is that the first one into an intersection has the right-of-way.. if you are a foreigner then you probably will be fined and held responsible under the assumption that if you had not of been there then the accident would not of happened... so it is your fault..

again, drive defensively and show compassion... you do not want to find yourself in the emergency room of a Philippine hospital.. especially here.. and remember, you are a foreigner...

I will never trust any traffic light in the Philippines, I observe even foreigner start to drive like idiots, sorry to admit my self included, from time to time when you feel enough is enough. Dashcam is necessary today if you want a chance to prove anything in court

Sent to who? There are huge numbers of people driving vehicles with "open bills of sale" such that the vehicle could easily be registered to someone who died years ago.

Since the ones who run the lights will be the lawbreakers then this is the crowd you have to catch. You won't catch them with this system. They will laugh at it and be happy the lights are holding up all the law-abiding drivers for them.

Best way to collect the traffic tickets is when the yearly CR has to be paid at the LTO but if they won't cooperate with the city then the whole system is doomed to fail.

Not a very good solution. Better is to take the vehicle away and sell it. The money is going to the government.
This system is used in Switzerland
