Having not found any mail in my Dumaguete City Post Office box or no word on my package that arrived in Manila 21 days ago, i finally found the Postmaster in his second floor office. Thought i'd pass along this info, hoping that it is correct...
The problem is that the contract between PhilPost and TransPac airlines (i think i got the name right) to deliver mail to the provinces expired two weeks ago and while the new contract is being negotiated, voila, NO MAIL... (DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT ask why philpost waited until after the contract expired)...
Apparently in the meantime, there is a sea container in Cebu now with mail for several post offices waiting to be opened, separated, and delivered. Maybe if we're lucky, we'll see mail in a week. And also DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT pull the usual foreigner rant and yell at Vickie or Jun-Jun, remember, the fault is in manila, not here, i think... (will federalism change anything?)....

I know it's too late in your particular case, but when I renewed my UK passport very recently I used JRS Express. Cost no different to what you quoted and was received in Liverpool around 5 working days later. I have always used them - no waiting around as is the norm with LBC and the guy that does the paperwork is impressively fast!

If you miss any letter or parcel at PhilPost office, go up to the 2nd floor. Huge room with stockpiles of mail, they allow you to search there for your stuff. Friend of mine was surprised how many missing letters he found there.

Hi G: Actually, i've been here for 3 years, NEVER had a problem with Phil Post before for more than a day or two (knock on wood)...
The bit about "...waiting until after the contract expired.." is NOT a surprise <grin>-

You know i'd forgotten about that, i've had two packages delayed, one for a month another for 3 months. But at least the Phil Post computer system can track a USPS number. That one i found by going to the third floor...

Just a quick update, got an email from the passport office and have accepted my application and are sending the new passport back. Looks like philpost did not update the tracker.-
