I couldn't come up with 5. One missing though and not in a bad way is beautiful women or women in general. The Asian woman who's not materialistic like western women and more open minded towards older guys and rather easy to get with is a big thing for a lot of guys while. As older guys we're not so interested in women our own age range usually and we really don't want to play the months of courting and dating before getting her in the sack.
May not be the *nice sounding* choice but if honest I'd say its likely up there with the top 3.
P.S. No disrespect to Filipina's here. Tons of great ones and we don't judge these things as a bad quality in any way.

I originally spent three years based in a small communications station on Luzon while in the US Navy. I returned on a whim in 2009 and moved over here permanently in 2010. Yes, it is becoming more expensive to live here, but still cheaper than in the states. I also love the location as I find Negros Island a paradise in comparison to many other places in the Philippines. Minutes from the sea or minutes from the mountains. The locals where I live and their friendly attitudes are also a definite factor in staying here. Finally, I walk all over the island and have always been warmly received by the many Filipinos I have had the opportunity to meet. Okay, some are wary about the old, heavy set, and balding foreigner walking the highway with backpack and camera in hand, but most are friendly (and curious). So, you make what you wish of your adopted country. The rest of my years will be spent here.

I replied to the poll. It was interesting to me that my 5 choices were the same as the majority of others. Just a word of caution though, myself and many others made those choices a dozen years ago. That does not mean people moving to the Philippines today would have those same reasons. In fact I plan to leave because one of my primary reasons has changed. It is just not cheap here any more. It is not extremely expensive but not cheap either. So I plan to leave.

Hi Andy,
I left the Philippines in early September for health reasons. The so called doctor there suggested I get back to the U.S. ASAP.. But the jerk did not properly prepare me for the flight back and the U.S. acting VA hospital said had I come to them just 3-5 hours later they would have just sent me to the morgue. No joking. I then spent a whole month at VA hospitals while they brought me back to life. I would have had some issue anyhow but not with the severity caused by an inept urologist at holy crap hospital in Dumaguete, All I'll say is his name starts with an A. I have recovered fairly well, but it appears I will always have lingering issues caused by the doctor?? ? at holly crap hospital. My issue came up very suddenly with no warning signs. I say it's a huge gamble just living in the Philippines, but to each their own. I will likely never come back, I'll be under VA care in the U.S. for life now.
I'd bet Larry( Shadow) would still be alive today had he sought care back in the U.S.. Again, to each their own.
Best wishes,
Charlie-
