Just got out of ACE where I spend the last couple of nights (respiratory problem - not COVID related). They do not admit COVID patients, but staff is wearing masks (as they should be) at all times, including janitors. Yes they do reimburse PhilHealth, at least they did when my wife paid the bills. I have a PhilHealth card and my dues are paid up, so I should receive the reimbursement (deduction on the bill before the final amount to be paid). Not a fan of hospitals in any way, shape or form, but I have nothing but praise for them. Also lucky with my physician, Dr Cuyacot. Pleasant, straightforward and approachable. His clinic starts at 16.00 hrs (4 PM for the illiterate).

Appointments are made with each doctor's office, each doctor's receptionist. You can call the hospital switchboard to ask for referral to a doctor with hours that day 523-5957. Some doctors split their week with Silliman Medical.

How does a thread about hospitals move to bickering about the 24 hour time format and the illiterate? I'm quite sure that people must be adults to join this forum. Can we at least act like it?

Was out the other day and decided to do a walk around Ace Doctors Hospital. Nice place, clean and easy to get around. Doctors offices were mostly unstaffed, I was there between 10 and 11AM, not sure what time most clinics open.

Got back home and sent a message to ISOS, that manages Tricare here. I asked if they are a certified provider as far as hospital services and labs go. They are not.

So if you use them, don't expect any reimbursement. Some of the doctors may be certified, but nothing else.

I prefer SUMC over HC, Wife and I got food poisoning from eating some shellfish, we went to HC because that was nearest. They put us together in a room designed for one person, putting me in a camp-bed that was painful to lay in. we got the lab results, negative but kept us in overnight anyhow. That was several years ago BTW. Caught Dengue last year, went to SUMC and was looked after very well, got the lab results and was diagnosed Positive for dengue.
Again, I was looked after by the staff and with a comfortable bed this time.
I don't know about the other two hospitals.

I would highly recommend Dr. John Viola. He is American trained, has saved my life 2 times, when a local hospital was just guessing at my prognosis. He is at Cebu Doctors.

That seems the root of the problem - no common standards within the hospitals, let alone amongst them. Everyone has so many different stories about their care, or lack of.

Hope you feel better now. (Stupid comment really as you would not be out if you did not - but what else does one say?)

Dr. Cuyacot has been my doctor for a few years and I second your assessment. I have a high opinion of him personally and of his ability. He is a pulmonary doctor but has treated me for other ailments too. I thought his office started a little earlier but whether it does or not, he is at Silliman in the doctor's building there. He has hospital privileges at Silliman and Ace.

I have been in three of the hospitals here. I would put Holy Child at the bottom of the list of hospitals I would go to in Dumaguete. If given the opportunity, go to Cebu Doctors Hospital. Experience counts.
