A freezer would not "kill" a chemical, as it is non-living - I think you are asking if it degrades it. I am not sure about that but suspect 'no' unless a very long time-period causes its degradation. Btw, many people think that freezing food kills off microbes, but in fact it only slows their growth - and also that of the enzymes in the food which cause it to deteriorate over time.

The main way freezing can destroy cells is because of the formation of ice crystals within the cells, but microbes (especially viruses) can tolerate very low temperatures - often they are stored in liquid nitrogen.

Back to the subject: I just researched PCBs in Norweigan farmed salmon and found "The contaminant levels in Norwegian farmed salmon have generally decreased between 1999 and 2011. Excluding other dietary sources, the levels of dioxins and dioxin-like PCBs in 2011 allowed consumption of up to 1.3kg salmon per week to reach the tolerable weekly intake". [https://www.researchgate.net/public...salar_in_the_13-year_period_from_1999_to_2011]

So it seems 1.3 kg per week is okay! But, of course, we do not know what other PCBs a person is ingesting from other sources (sea foods being a major source) and also how much further levels of PCB have declined since 2011. The two might balance each other.

Your business what you eat but my take is: Just keep eating the salmon and enjoy it!

I think it is a very personal thing - if a person is happy with their life then it is not boring to them. Others may view it as boring but no-one has the right to judge another person's way of life (unless it causes significant harm to others).

From your description of your non-Covid routine on another thread: Gym, coffee at Bo's, lunch on the Boulevard, if your life style is boring then mine is deceased.

And, yes, to most people (you being a very good example) FAMILY is everything.

It is hard to keep things in topic here but sometimes it is nice to see people getting along and having a little fun for a change, so it gets a pass.

It just illustrates the mental changes (too scared to call it what it is) that follow from listening to Bisaya all day long

Amazing this forum sometimes. From quarantine to norwegian salmon to Omega 3 to raw flesh to apes to chimps. [emoji16]. But it's OK. Makes it "vivid".

I have only a few scenarios that I don’t like about the current quarantine.
    - No face-to-face school and the blended online and modular work around not that great; no school soccer team
    - Belcris apparently cannot provide frozen Norwegian Sashimi Grade Salmon (non-smoked) which I would normally eat 4 times a week
    - Can not receive mail from U.S.
So not much to complain about. Maybe it is my boring life style or the fact I have an extended family.

Yes - if we go back to the 'old normal' we will be eating raw flesh, veg., fruit and nuts. Not a bad diet but hardly likely to excite most people. Even that dangerous drug alcohol has the benefit of giving feelings of joy and even reducing stress below harmful levels.

Anyway, we "elderly" (the ones not handsome enough or important enough to be hacked!) just need to enjoy every day and consume within reason.

Opps I thought it was the American spelling. A failed attempt at grey humour.

    "Improve"!!! Is that even possible?

Can I offer to handle the finances, please - subs will be based on your seniority on the Forum, so Mr R pays the most! I will add my own contribution once all others have paid (and @jimeve, you also have to pay for 'friends' who you seek advice here on behalf of, a bit like having too many properties in Monopoly*), honestly.

I give my blessing to a 'Go FU** Me' page, whatever it is. Is that similar to a 'Go FU** Yourself' page, as that has been suggested to me many times?

And how did you know I am "naughty"? I spend my time trying to persuade people I am quite the opposite - that one failed then.

One slightly negative point in your otherwise remarkable posting for a human, I am an ape and not a monkey: "Apes are generally more intelligent than monkeys, and most species of apes exhibit some use of tools. While both monkeys and apes can use sounds and gestures to communicate, apes have demonstrated higher ability with language, and some individual apes have been trained to learn human sign languages." I have used a tool ( ) and also I know some signs, but won't illustrate them here!
