I believe the best you can do right now as far as travel goes is site tight, don't make any set plans and go with the flow. It is what it is.

Lots of great travel deals going on.....man you would have to be nuts to book a holiday deal unless it was 100% cash refundable. Even then you have the chance of the company folding and the money is gone forever.

You are correct - in spite of what was posted here by a member saying ALL the vaccines are "reasonably safe", he does not have even a shred of evidence. The vaccines have not been as fully tested, over a long period, as is normal protocol and some nasty side-effects have already been experienced even though they have been used only a short time.

Secondly, that member also says "by 2022 the country may well have herd immunity" in spite of the media reports (recently posted on this Forum) which state the government itself does not think enough vaccinations will take place for herd immunity to be achieved within 4 to 5 years.

Then we have the issue of the virus mutating too far away from the vaccine's immunity creation for the current vaccines being usable for 4 to 5 years (perhaps far less).

That's a lot to ask from developing countries that don't even have digital medical records yet. I have a yellow vaccination card I keep with me when I travel. I think that would be more than enough and far easier to implement. I'm not a fan of my medical records being placed online and accessible to anyone with a QR reader app. I believe forcing this for travel this could be a major HIPAA violation as well. You cannot separate my medical records from my identity when I have to show both my passport and whatever QR code has this data linked to it. Any country could have a program that easily links these two documents together in a database. IMO my medical records (which vaccinations definitely are) should only be accessed by medical professionals or anyone I voluntarily give it to without being coerced to do so (telling me I have to give up that information to go back to my home country or travel within it is definitely coercion).

At least with a paper copy it becomes far harder for people to collect and store that data. I would be far more willing to allow immigration or security to look at this document, so long as there is no scanning or photos taken of it. You see I have a vaccination and let me through, no digital records needed.

Our plans for Christmas 2020 was to come to Valencia to stay, and sort of have Chiang mai Thailand as a plan B.

As much as I want to move and retire Im not doing it if I cannot get back to Oz easy, preferably with no quarantine. It could be awhile.

I got a few friends that have got into Thailand over the last month. 15 days (not 14) quarantine still.

    [emoji23] haha! Great cartoon.
I think the next big thing to come up is the “COVID19 vaccine passport” with the QR code. Maybe a bit controversial I think this is the development that will bring the world back to normal again, domestically and to travel internationally again. And once we reach 70% immunity, no QR code needed. 2021 should be a good year.

    Happy new year everyone.

So 2020 was a very interesting year, what do you think will happen in 2021.

    What are we in for?

I have complete faith in the Pfizer vaccine. Let's not forget, this is the company that made Viagra.

If Pzifer can raise the dead, I'm quite sure it can save the living!

Talking about vaccines, if somebody wishes to go to the DOH FB page this afternoon and find the schedule, you might go an idea (and report back to us :-) I cannot do it in the 2:00-5:00 pm time frame.

2021? Jeez, some hope of a quiet wet ang sa bay bay just as the sun sets over Negros. A gently simmered prawn molee (its Indian) bubbles away over smoky coals as the wife dons her silken bedtime threads and beckons sutrily (is that a word?) as the last gasp of a Don Papa slips past the tongue.

Nope. I’m consigned to the ever present symphony of chain saws, karaoke, tricycles, screaming bata and the bleat of Noys kanding as they munch their way through the lovingly prepared veg patch. There is no hope.

Nay has a boil, ate Maribeth has igit, Kuya Juan who should be on duty has a ‘family emergency’ (the manok seem to be bemused by Philippines Got Talent n haven’t laid), Noy Paulo has fallen off the wagon (again) and is begging kuarta to purchase Emperador before straightening things out with the neighbours wife. Um, according to Paulo she’s a fine looking woman who shouldn’t be married to that worm. He’s gonna brave it and tell her. My money is on the broom and two or three broken limbs. Que sera. Should be entertaining.

A firefly drifts past. I reflect. As Wreckless Eric once wrote: when I was a young boy, my mama said to me: there’s only one girl in the world for you. And she probably lives in Tahiti.

Near miss C. At least I got the tropics.
