I had a fight and won from Globe, but I didn't choose for a lawyer. Instead I had the Consumer Protection Group of the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) backing me up. Globe bend over backwards for me as soon as the DTI became involved and compensated me fully in record time. Good luck!

Your best bet is DTI. I had bought a part for my car from a part store owned by a Chinese! It was an expensive part (17500 pesos). It was defective. I took it back to return. The part store said I had to have the original plastic wrap with it in the box to return. I complained to consumer affairs at DTI. they arranged a mediation and decision in 3 days. They ruled that I paid for the part, not the plastic or the box. They returned my money in full.

I also had a good experience with the DTI years ago. Bought a used car from a local dealer. Transmission gave out within a week. DTI produced a document giving the dealership 3 options:
1. Provide a full refund for the car.
2. Trade the car for a similar model and value.
3. Replace the transmission free of charge.-

Before you go to a lawyer, I would suggest that you visit the DTI ( department of tade and industry ) office located upstairs next door to BPI, San Jose Street. Take all your evidence including emails and text messages. They will let you know if they can help if the PLDT is not fulfilling their contract or if not they will tell you what legal recourse you may have. I would make the lawyer my last choice, as the cost may be exhorbitant and the outcome not to your liking. I had a problem with Cignal where they demanded money, even though I compied with the contract termination rules. DTI told me to ignore all bills as they would resolve the problem. A couple of months later all billing ceased.

Never did get an answer to my question but here is an update, in Dec 2021 we told PLDT we were moving to a different place, they had already done a survey of the new location and said no service available at the moment so we told them we have to terminate our service, as the 3 year lock in period was past should have been no problem, SHOULD, you can't terminate with a phone call you have to send an email with attached proof of last payment and I.D., did that and received no acknowledgment that they received the email but did not worry about it as that seems to be the normal behaviour here.
To cut a long story short we moved in Jan 2022 and kept receiving bills every month, many phone calls later and three visits to the office we finally this month received a bill showing refunds but still showing we are due to pay 0.03.....
You can't make this stuff up

PLDT is a faceless man, every lawyer will be licking his lips hoping you knock on his door, as its
a hands-down win for him, the contract will be watertight in its own right with the blessing of a local lawyer and the judge too, forget about it man, pay the lady and leave the bed, take it on the chin and move on, knowing that any other services you might sign up for here will also come with the same shrug of the shoulders/out of stock mentality, and don't ignore paying what you owe, as when they get the bit in the teeth, they will take what you have, don't take it personally you only have to go on to their Facebook page to see the locals rage towards them, so its not just you-

THIS*
After moving from one address with PLDT to another address where neighbors have PLDT, they have yet taken any action to come to install in new address. It's now 7 months with us trying to get the service, and them pushing for pay.
They engaged with a lawyer to collect now 19.000 pesos.
We where told that you commit to 3 year contract and if break contract, it would be 3 months pay. We been trying to get the bloody installation for 7 months and always someone promise to 'create a ticket'.
Also told you can move to another area where they provide the services. Neighbors had PLDT, it's even installed new one 15m away from us AFTER we asked for it.
Latest developments is they had an attorney send a demand for payment.
So yeah, will read all small text and gather all correspondence, contact DTI.-

You should thoroughly read the fine print in their terms of service before contacting a lawyer. I bet they have their bases covered there when it comes to slow service (if that is the issue).
Also, would their actions really fall under the legal definition of extortion. Have they threatened you by "intimidation, with violence, or damage to your reputation"? (Threatening to collect money through litigation probably isn't going to meet that definition since that is the lawful way to resolve disputes.)-
