    As long as a much less lethal variant of the virus like the current omicron stays the dominant one, pushing out the remains of delta in its path, and succeeds in infecting close to half the population in Europe and North America in just a few months, then the "let's call it endemic" opinion will keep gaining ground I think.
    However, as soon as there would be a different more pathogenic strain of the virus gaining substantial ground, then these voices will quickly drown out again.
    So, in my view, it's too early to make a call on the pandemic/endemic thing.

    There is still political gain and power to be made off of COVID. Politicians can act like they are actually doing something and earning their paychecks. I doubt it will be labeled as endemic until nearly every person of voting age has been personally touched by it and sees through their BS.
