There are many ways people deal with the short and long brownouts - for us it is important to continue using the internet during short outs and for that we have a 300W portable power supply (from Shopee) that cost 3500 pesos and we also use it to take to the beach to connect our rechargeable portable fans (1500 pesos) if the charge runs out. Obviously, it can power those fans if you are at home but it is not usually necessary as a full charge allows the fans to last for over 12 hours. There are also many types of rechargeable portable lighting available.

The portable power unit runs our router and laptops but, obviously, it is no use at only 300W to run most household appliances. However, I found our freezer does not defrost too much even on a 12 hour brownout - in fact, during a 5 day cut due to a typhoon I saved all the food except ice cream, mostly by cooking it and using the freezer as a fridge (the temperature went down only to about 8oC even over those 5 days).

So, without a big cash layout and with simplicity, it is possible to stay in during a powercut and watch TV (or whatever) on a laptop whilst remaining cool and with lighting.

That was scheduled maintenance announced about 2 weeks ago, it should have came back on at 6pm but there was some unforeseen problem caused the delay.
Get ready for the same again on the 23rd March 5am to 6pm (maybe)

We are looking at Apex Power Solutions right now. They have been in business since 2020, not quite as long a Jeff, but they come highly recommended a couple of construction companies. We will see what they say but initial estimates are 850,000 peso for 13.9 kwp hybrid system with 60kwh Powerwall batteries. One inverter, 4 51.2v 300AH batteries, 24 550w monocrystalline panels.
