Some of you may have wondered all your life why is urine the color yellow. Seriously, my wife asked men that this morning, so here is the answer to close the book on that question (apologize if some of you may already know this.
Urine is yellow due to a pigment called urochrome, which is a byproduct of hemoglobin breakdown. When red blood cells break down, bilirubin is produced, and it's converted into urobilinogen in the gut, then further processed into urobilin in the kidneys. This urobilin is what gives urine its characteristic yellow color.
