Laptops don't normally come with GPS like phones do. Specialized ones designed for field work do. If your laptop had GPS your mapping app could locate you that way.

I found USB GPS receiver /antennas on Shoppe for 300p, Amazon for $20 and the gpsstore.com for $45.

The GPSStore had the more understandable description:
Turn Your PC or Laptop into a GPS
The BU-353N, by USGlobalSat, GPS Receiver can be utilized in a variety of applications. With a non-slip base and compact design, the BU-353N is completely self-contained and waterproof. The BU353N supports 75 channel all-in-view tracking and acquires satellites quickly. The 353N uses Galileo, Beidou and GLONASS satellites-providing support for 3 more satellite constellations than the previous model. The BU-353N features a 1Hz refresh rate.

Typical application may include, but not limited to marine, aviation, and commercial environments in such uses as fire truck, police cars, buses, RVs, utility & long haul vehicles. The extended 5 foot long cable allows for easy routing behind headliners and side panels to terminate at a USB connector for interfacing with your Laptop or PC.

[IMG]US GlobalSat BU-353N includes a driver to convert the USB port into a virtual COM port so it can work with these and most any other NMEA compliant mapping software on the market today:

Fugawi, Microsoft Streets & Trips (2002 and above), Rand McNally StreetFinder, DeLorme Street Atlas (8.0 and above), and Precision mapping Traveler 5.0

    The BU353N is compatible with WindowsXP / Vista/ 7 /8 /10, MAC 10.6.6+ Linux, Windows CE and Windows 11.
