A friend got a pillory for decoration. I'm sure he will lend it to the City of Dumaguete for this occasion. Put the A-H on the Boulevard for everyone to take a hit/spit/whip/cut. There is no punishment hard enough for this act.

Let's be careful here. This guy in custody might very well be innocent. Cases like this put a lot of pressure on the police to make an arrest, doesn't necessarily mean it's the right guy. I hope it is the right guy but there is a long line of people who have been falsely accused....and prosecuted in this country.

I really hope the police were smart enough to secure the crime scene and get DNA samples.

My search for an idyllic place to live has through travel and internet taken me to Asia and back. Much as I love the Philippines. It would seem that there are pluses and minuses for each place I found.
I am now at the point of giving up the search and staying in Britian, with all it's faults and lousey weather, it's still a good place to call home.
This forum has in the past given a good insight to the way of life in Negros/Philippines, with some great photographs by the Rev Robinson and Photoguy. Now it is becoming a gossip column (without any facts). I wish you all well, maybe I'll drop by for a drink sometime, regards John

I dont want to start a sh*t fight but john boy i dont agree with you, the little girl was raped and murdered, the man was robbed of 2.2 mil peso,s, the exapt was killed when a pedycab turned in front of him at Bacong. I know their is a lot of hearsay and rumors, but the basic storys are true.
I think all stories good and bad have a place on this forum .
    Just my thoughts.
    cheers

The normal investigation and prosecution procedure here for this type of thing seems to be arrest the first person that fits the need, then fabricate and falsify enough evidence to hopefully get a conviction. This way they can save face and tell the public "we did our job".

Mobs at the police station demanding "justice" as there was today only add to this problem by pressuring the police to make an arrest, ANY arrest!.

It is sad that this has come to Dumaguete. There are several very similar cases in Cebu, maybe it is one serial rapist. Think about it, most serial rapists in the US travel around, hit one here, one there, with the knowledge that it will be very difficult to put them all together with Viking era procedures, equipment, and investigative expertise. They are usually individuals of high intellect. They would make a mockery of the PNP and NBI.

so are you saying that the PNP frames up innocent people just to keep a good image and make it look like theyre doing their job? executing innocent people for the sake of shutting from the public's endless interrogations of the case?

Absolutely. This is one case that got a lot of attention two years ago.

They were arrested when checking in on a flight to Hong Kong, when the girlfriend on fun said about a wanted picture to her husband 'Hey, that looks like you'. The police arrested them, falsified evidence, ignored evidence that proved the couple were innocent (e.g. a surveillance camera showing them at a hotel far from Carcar at the time of the crime.)
The only evidence they had was a kid that answered yes on the question "Is this the man you saw?". As we know, kids think all foreigners look the same.

this is the couple that was involved with the abduction of a little girl from naga wasn't it? yeah I read that one. very poor performance from the police that did the arrest. the couple ended up suing them at the end for the damages.
