    Hi Guys,

I'm ordering a parcel from SHENZHEN CHINA, only approximately 1 kilo. My orders from the contact only costs around a P1,000.00 the contact person says it will be shipped thru DHL, and says freight transpotation fee will (only) be $18.00 is it possible to pay this low a price?

It's my first time trying international shipping, so i need your opinions! Thank you.

I was looking at DHgate.com and checking tablet PC's around the 1 to 2 kilos and shipping from China with DHL was generally between $100 and $150, however, some of the sellers shipped with EMS (China Post) and it was considerably cheaper, maybe around the price that you mentioned.

Seems to be a lot of variables. I just went to DHL website and used their DHL Capability Tool and got a rate for shipping 1 kilo 40 x 20 x 10 cm from Shenzhen to Dumaguete and the price was 381.25 CNY or $58.98 US

thats DHL for private a person...

my parents sent me a guitar from Germany, quoted by DHL (20kg incl. case and insurance total) 178 Euro.

They brought it to a small company in my hometown, price 82 Euro for the exactly same but the small company used DHL for international shipping.

What I wanna say is, that national companies sending thousands of parcels daily, pay a tiny fraction of that a private person pays sending one each 7th full moon.

    Hi Rhoody,

Thank you for your reply. Dgte Forum is really helpful, i get my inquiries answered in minutes! I appreciate it. It's my first time buying goods from China. I have a question tho, If you can check 2GO.com, it's written there that items from China will be here in 3-4 days. it'll cost P1,600 for the first 0.5kg and P350.00 for the next 0.5kgs. I would have to say it's much cheaper to use this courier service, the problem is, why DON'T they have any branch in SHENZHEN CHINA?

So how can the contact person in China send the package using 2GO? i'm so confused!

I hope you guys can help me figure how this would work.

I've read reviews of DHL services, there was one which gave me gooshflesh, out of all the packages he's ordered, he never received at least one of them, so he had to cancel the credit card payment to DHL.

Money don't grow on trees, even if it's only a thousand pesos or two, it would surely hurt if i'd be paying for nothing.

Thanks Rhoody, I didn't know there was such a difference between private shippers and companies. I have done some more research at DHGate.com and the shipping prices with DHL vary greatly between shippers. I imagine this is due to their relationship with DHL? For example, I saw a Tablet PC shipped from China to Philippines for $14 with EMS, $24 with DHL and $83 with UPS. I saw the same tablet on the same website from another shipper costing $121 with DHL. If the company that you are buying the article from is reputable, I think for the little extra I would ship with DHL instead of EMS because my experience with the Philippine Postal Service has not been great. It may only take EMS a week to get the parcel to the Philippines from China, but it may take a month before it actually reaches you, once it gets into the Philippine Postal Service. There is a DHL office in Dumaguete on Perdices Street.

Note: EMS is the China Postal Service so anything shipped with them would end up in the Post Office here.

Sorry if my previous information was erroneous. Rhoody has been here a long time and is much more knowledgeable in this area.

Hi SteveB, i'm guessing you're online. Thank you so much guys! Hmm, i think i'll be giving DHL a ring and 2GO a ring as well before i sleep. And then i'll let you guys know. I appreciate you sharing to me your personal experiences with the couriers!

Thanks Rhoody and SteveB! =) Have a blessed day!

well, that's where the problem is. we know the country we are in and how things working here..
the longer somebody is here, the more he is aware of that he does not know anything and what was half way working OK yesterday can be (or most likely is) a total mess-up today.

talking again about my guitar via DHL, the case was opened at the customs and 18 packs of my favourite special gummibears were taken out. My parents stuffed them in the case to fill up the 20 Kilo but it was not declared on the papers. Well, I am fat enough anyway :(
