Sadly, US and European leaders were not the intelligent ones listening to sensible advice. They were late in closing the boarders and implementing strict quarantine that was accountable to the authorities. Now this virus is running rampant through US and Europe.
The Philippines was smart to close the airports to domestic flights weeks ago. Meanwhile contagious sick people are flying all over the US and Europe. A few days ago the Governor of Florida stated that there were 190 flights a day from New York to Florida and that statistically speaking every on of them had an asymptotic carrier aboard.
Having shut down domestic flights, here is a situation where the Filipinos are smarter than the US and Europeans.

Personally I think ACES are D1ckhe@ds because 2 weeks ago they sent a covid patient to Holy Charge without telling they patient was symptomatic for the virus. Holy Child had to close part of the hospital for a period of time to disinfect. JMO-

I have four personal stories with experience at ACE, one in my family and three from friends. They are all horror stories. I'm sure some have had good experiences, bless them. I saw that a large delivery of PPE was just air shipped into Dumaguete the other day, did any of it go to ACE? Are they changing their policy as a result? Were they actually completely out of PPE when they made this decision, or just not at a "comfortable" level? Were the hospitals in Wuhan and Italy and Spain and New York and New Orleans ... were those hospitals at a comfortable level of PPE inventory? NO. But did they say if you show up at our doors in critical condition struggling for your life we are just going to shoo you away? NO. It's supposed to be that if you're a hospital that is not an option you would even consider. Instead they got creative and found ways ... they used ski goggles and swim goggles and plastic page protectors, they sewed their own masks, they re-used and sterilized, they made gowns out of garbage bags, they fixed and modified their own ventilators ... they did what they had to do to provide care to all those who came to them because locking their doors to people who needed their care was not an option they would ever even consider because they honor the oath they swore.
"I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help."
As a community, let's remember when this is over who it was that locked their doors to us when we needed them.-

Thank goodness the majority of doctors and nurses dont think like some of the participants on here because if they did we would all be sick and no one to go to for help. Try watching the clips of the doctors and nurses in New York. They are doing their best under terrible conditions and have not walked off the job because of shortages. They deserve our thanks for putting themselves at risk and not putting their own situation first.

I'm not sure what type of jobs can be described as a duty and which can't, but it seems like medicine at the hospital level, is pretty close. Their job is to save people and sometimes that subjects them to risks. Do firefighters get to decide to not fight a fire because it is dangerous or a police officer get to not respond to a call where there were shots fired. Being a soldier requires the ultimate duty.
