Not if you value your life, people have been 'rubbed out' in this place for a lot less than P30k (not forgetting the 'loss of face' for the land shark(lawyer), either).
I found out that there is an active bar association in Dumaguete. I filed a formal complaint. It's been served on the attorney. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
Well, foreigners and their Filipina wives adopt here all the time. I know someone who has completed the process. I don't know why you say you aren't eligible, but it wouldn't be just because you the husband are a foreigner. - Attorneys? I stopped by one attys house after seeing his sign by the road today. He had walls around the house that had to be at least 15 feet tall with barbed wire on top of that!
You could try to sue. One guy I know actually had a judge disbarred here. He's still alive and kicking
indeed! attorney Young is a very good attorney an is not so much about MONEY... He helped a friend once... and he charged him for that and payment was arranged Another good lawyer is FISCAL Ernesto Valencia. He resides in Bagacay and was the person who smoothly transferred ownership of land from the previous owner to my aunt... PM me if you want his number
I was told by a good authority (not at McDo's) that as long as your wife has Philippine citizenship there is no way you are able to adopt her children.
Your mistaken. An alien can adopt his wife's kids. See section 3 of the Family Code The Family Code of the Philippines TITLE VII ADOPTION Art. 183. A person of age and in possession of full civil capacity and legal rights may adopt, provided he is in a position to support and care for his children, legitimate or illegitimate, in keeping with the means of the family. Only minors may be adopted, except in the cases when the adoption of a person of majority age is allowed in this Title. In addition, the adopter must be at least sixteen years older than the person to be adopted, unless the adopter is the parent by nature of the adopted, or is the spouse of the legitimate parent of the person to be adopted. (27a, EO 91 and PD 603) Art. 184. The following persons may not adopt: (1) The guardian with respect to the ward prior to the approval of the final accounts rendered upon the termination of their guardianship relation; (2) Any person who has been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude; (3) An alien, except: (a) A former Filipino citizen who seeks to adopt a relative by consanguinity; (b) One who seeks to adopt the legitimate child of his or her Filipino spouse; or (c) One who is married to a Filipino citizen and seeks to adopt jointly with his or her spouse a relative by consanguinity of the latter. Aliens not included in the foregoing exceptions may adopt Filipino children in accordance with the rules on inter-country adoptions as may be provided by law. (28a, EO 91 and PD 603)
I didn't say it would be easy! This is the Philippines. I am sure that by doing the best possible thing you can for the child, there will be many hands out along the way. But it is possible. i have chatted with foreigners that have done it.
