The regulation disallowing certain age groups or those wearing slippers to go around the city or enter malls or supermarkets is a clear example of discrimination existing in this country. The prolonged isolation of seniors is akin to imprisonment. It is a violation of their constitutional rights. We can understand the concern. Of course, seniors know all that jazz. They could have bade farewell to this earth if they didn't know. I wonder what is going to happen to this world if seniors weren't around to make major decisions as almost all of the world leaders are in their senior years. This aspect of the guidelines is flawed and stupid. I hope all these discriminatory regulations will be corrected soon.

That's just not true. A t-shirt won't do much for you at any speed but denim is adequate protection at the speeds you are supposed to be driving at in the Philippines. The material most modern shoes are made of are on par with denim. Leather is always going to be superior but to say that bare skin is just about as good as a pair of jeans is completely wrong. I've gone down twice here, both while wearing jeans, and the scars on my upper body are much worse than those on my lower body. Long pants and shoes absolutely do offer added protection.

Please help me understand your suggestion. Are you asking for a quality control system for our posts? And is this so you can enjoy reading DI? If so, borders on arrogance. We are not here to please you and could care less if you are critical of the postings.
If I misinterpreted your comments, my apologies, if I am correct, why don’t you leave this forum.-

Your post is very well written, but what proof do we have that chosen leaders are verbal communicators and not readers?
I agree that leaders sometimes seem to be chosen for the wrong attributes - 'charisma' being a big advantage. But with the 'celebrity culture' there is a danger leaders will commonly be chosen due to exposure - it has already happened. People even talk of dim-witted 'Instagram' types as potential leaders (I mean the 'look-at-me' posers, not the readers).
But I wish you had not digressed onto the second part, about this Forum. Try to find its equal here in the Philippines and you will struggle. It is not necessary to moderate it to the point when anyone finding difficulties in expressing themselves clearly in the written word gets put off, especially those who do not have English as their main language. This would just reduce the value the Forum provides to 'newbies' finding their feet and the established (who by now probably have trouble seeing their feet!).
If it ain't broke then don't fix it.-

that is in fact true and I've heard about it being enforced i.e. in Cebu years ago already.
Useless if you ask me, unless you wear special abrasion resistant motorcycle gear there's not much of a difference between short and long pants in terms of protection.
Proper footwear is way more important, however all in all it would be the best if they just stuck to helmet law and enforced that, instead of inventing overly complex regulations dictating styles of clothing and shoewear. I wonder why they never ever look at other countries that have solved all this long time ago, and simply do as they do.-

No, I am not a biker, but I do realise why wearing flip-flops on bikes is unsafe! Also, they are probably more hazardous than shoes for walking.
I find in the climate here that wearing socks and shoes makes my feet very irritated (a bit like @Rye83 at times! Joke lang) - due to my skin's reaction to sweat. So I am generally a flip-flop person.
But when I attended an event at Luce (Silliman) they would not allow me in wearing flip-flops - I went to my car and put on a pair of 'swimming shoes' (very flimsy and colourful) as that is all I had there and was allowed in! I didn't mind - their place, their rules.-

Personally I think that idea is beyond belief. Why would he condone censorship? Bloody silly idea if you ask me.

I wear jeans all the time when riding. It certainly isn't uncomfortable. Having a couple pair solves the drying issue. Jeans are extremely popular here, even if they are of the ridiculous looking "skinny" variety, and is not an impractical or outrageous ask for the vast majority of people.
Well, if someone wants to go by the letter of the law instead of the spirit of the law then the consequences will be on them. I personally don't think there should be any law for PPE. People should be free to be as stupid as they want so long as they aren't hurting or burdening anyone but themselves and their family. I will wear very thin sweatpants when I'm going to the gym. It is stupid, even more so since I know the risks and dangers from first hand experience. But whatever, if I go down you won't see any Kickstarters or posts asking for monetary assistance from anyone.-

I was not aware that slippers (?same as flip-flops) cannot be worn on the streets - thought it was related to bike riders only, as a safety issue.
But if that is correct then I can see the reason - it is because they are worried that people might trip over a virus.-
