No issue with this...they aren't asking for much. Fill out the forms, sign your name, pay the fees and move on.

Anyone remember the story of the little Jap soldier who didn't know the war was over, Bet he got a shock! Then there was the Filipino who had a Jap passport, I seem to remember he was charged with something like 47 years Overstay and he was born here.

Duterte should just green-light shooting foreigners who overstay. That will help ease the burden on the over-worked immigration system.

72 Hours? Why then do we wait up to 6+ months for the Front line Services to get in order. Seems every time we get a new BI chief they all say the same thing yet in reality, it is 1 step forward and 2 steps back. While on this, I find it hard to believe the number they/he quotes, If they are undocumented how do they know about them.
Could it be, we don't really know so lets make up stories.? I certainly agree with the Employers getting Stung and would think the majority will not be Westerners that are illegally employed. I mean, would we get out of bed for what would be on Offer? I think Not.:jawdrop:
JMHO but....................:whistling: I am sure not many of us will Hold our Breath too long EH?

New Immigration Bureau chief Jaime Morente urged overstaying foreigners to legalize their stay in the country or face deportation as he vowed to step up the campaign against illegal aliens.

Morente said he would not allow the country to be used as haven for foreign criminals and undesirable aliens.

“Undocumented foreigners or overstaying aliens must leave the country or otherwise they would be locked up in jail before being deported,” Morente said.

But the new BI head claimed that he would let thousands of overstaying foreigners to correct their stay and give them a chance to enjoy living in the country.

There are more than 100,000 undocumented foreigners in the country, the BI record shows.

The new BI commissioner urged employers who are harboring illegal aliens to make their stay legal or let their foreign workers leave the country.

“Let them go home,” Morente advised employers who are harboring illegal aliens.

Morente, who was a former Davao City police chief, however, welcomes foreigners to come and visit the Philippines.

“They are always welcome as long as they register their stay in the country,” said Morente, a graduate of PMA Class of 1981.

Morente also plan to establish a counter-intelligence operation against employees who are engaged in illegal activities.

“We’re making it our mission to account for all overstaying and undocumented aliens to negotiate for their unauthorized stay for a fee,” Morente added, stressing that improving the bureau’s revenue collections are high on his agenda.

In a statement, Morente listed his three key priorities: strengthening the border control; improving service efficiency and ridding the bureau of corruption.

On President Rodrigo Duterte’s directives to reduce requirements and the processing time of all applications, Morente said he will simplify the frontline services to meet the 72-hour processing mandate, eliminate red tape by reducing the number of processors and signatories, and modernizing the current Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) I-card system for efficiency and anti-cyber attack purposes. Tell this to the people who are being held in immigration jail.

Maybe the title of this thread should be "Pay us to stay here or we'll detain you until you can pay".

Take a look around....how racially diverse is the population in the Philippines? Now look at the US. Politicians can say and do pretty much whatever they want to foreigners because the chances of offending a group of Filipinos from a different racial background are extremely slim.

As for Trump....it is how he says what he says. I know he is not actually that stupid and is just trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator....but I just can't get behind someone that says such absurd sh*t just to gain a few votes. Does he have any detailed policy plans (with actual math and numbers) that, upon being elected, he and his administration would carry out? Or will all policy now be presented through his personal Twitter account? His campaign website is just a very flaky summary of what he wants to achieve.

Also: acting like a petty, thin-skinned man-child who constantly looks like he is whining/getting ready to go tell his mommy because he was being picked on doesn't really do much for me either.

I wonder how many have passed away and nobody notified the government? That could lead to one heck of an overstay.
