Just go to the smoke test place and they can take care of it. Only a hundred pesos or so on top of the renewal fee.

I have renewed for several years. I must "smog", or "smoke test" as they say here, first. The smoke testers offer to take it to registration, and some on this board have said they do it this way, or for some reason don't. I take the test results to my insurance company (Stronghold, opposite Qyosko Cafe) and they process the registration with my yearly insurance renewal, for no extra charge. Some time later they invite me to pick up the new sticker. By the way, I purchase maximum liability insurance. Gladly, I've never used it. But every year it is more important.
