I have seen them in Valencia on the steps where they sell all the plants,we got ours walking along a beach at sitit bay at tambobo,they were growing like weeds there!
There is a couple of small ones sprouted from ours now if you want to drop by bacong and collect.

I got some small Aloe Vera in pots. I am in Northwest Dumaguete. PM me if you are interested. These are small but rooted, if you want larger one just root them yourself from larger cutting they are east to get started. Great to use to remove the "sting" from sunburn.

To grow aloe they do not need much fertilizer but need a desert like soil very loose sandy type is good and only water when the dirt is dry deep down this will cause it to grow moor shoots and thrive. Will grow well indoors with indirect sunlight. They need to be introduced to direct sunlight only a little at a time to harden them off to direct sunlight or they will burn and turn translucent and die. Also they are not a fast growing plant

Ingested in small doses probably nothing. Ingested in higher doses.....maybe cancer or kidney disease.

Aloe vera extract gave rats tumours | New Scientist

The rodents were given relatively high doses of a whole-leaf extract of aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis) over two years. In rats given water containing 1.5 per cent by weight of the extract, 39 per cent of females and 74 per cent of males had malignant or benign tumours in their large intestines. None of these growths were seen in rats given pure drinking water.

Taken orally, aloe vera can cause cramps and diarrhea. In 2002, the Food and Drug Administration banned it from over-the-counter laxatives, but that hasn't stopped manufacturers from using it in juice drinks and supplements.

"Save it for sunburns," said CSPI executive director Michael F. Jacobson. "Used topically, aloe vera is safe. But the fanciful health claims manufacturers are slapping on various drinks and pills are unfounded, so people simply shouldn't expose themselves to the risks."

I thought drinking Aloe products was good for me. Should I stop drinking Aloe? That is a decision you might want to make with your health care provider. Like any personal decision, the more information you have the better. Currently, manufacturers of these products are not required to label aloin concentration in Aloe vera products. If aloin is the cause of the tumors in rats then, generally speaking, the lower the concentration of aloin in a product, the lower the possibility that it may cause harm. Tumors developed in animals that drank water containing 60 ppm of aloin daily for nearly their entire lifetime.

However, the president of a website called "Aloe Life" (obviously unbiased with no possible conflict of interest) disputes the FDA's findings, labeling it a scandal called "Diarrhea-Gate" (), and they believe it is a smear campaign again Aloe Vera plants worldwide.

The FDA knows that they are walking on thin ice and the smear has been leaked to the media, as they first warned. The lawyers have informed the FDA that they must state in any news release that the cancer they created in “Diarrhea-Gate” was not from filtered or decolorized Aloe Vera.

Phone calls have trickled into the Aloe Life office from concerned Aloe Life juice drinkers that have read smear articles about Aloe Vera. It is online and for any person seeking information on the internet this following article will be one of their choices. When you title the article Aloe Vera Causing Cancer and follow it with, “Should I ask my doctor if it is safe?” and “Is it safe to put it on my skin?” questions, you know it is following in the footsteps of the smear campaign Vitamin E went through several years back. Vitamin E was never pulled from the market even though the FDA made allegations of it causing people to die an early death - because it was not true! While the smear continues the FDA is smugly asking for more safety data from the Aloe industry even though they have been given two peer reviewed studies. They are refusing to consider the excellent mice study because it wasn't conducted on rats!

Please have sufficient handouts to give to your concerned customers and if you are the customer know that our government does not always work in the best interest of the citizen. Aloe Vera, including the Whole Leaf, is 100% safe but diarrhea is not!

So there's two sides of the argument....there is also a side that thinks it cures cancer. Not going to bother with those though: Google

Personally, I believe I'll go with the FDA's and CSPI's advice of "external use only".

Because I have 5, they are small in 4 or 5 inch pots I really only need one. I only use it when I get sunburned... for that it is great. Even though they are small, root cutting are a sure thing...
