    Hi Folks,

Anyone seen any (NEW) solar panels for sale ?

While being "green" is seen as a good idea, thinking more of limiting my electricty bills and having a back up supply to cover the "brown outs".

    thanks, regards, "the Sid"

Uymatiao had one several months back. Solar energy is really not cost effective, due to cost of solar panels and battery cost and maintenance. For simple backup you would be better off with a battery or two and a charger.

They are available in Bacolod. Good quality along with good quality deep cycle batteries. They get them from California.

Best bang for the buck solar panels I've found so far, and that includes wholesalers that were a good deal in California.

They are looking for dealers. Anyone interested?

Thanks for the replies, although fairly mixed.

Here in IloIlo we seem to have the most expensive electicity in the Philippines, probably due to the diesel power generation, and with the Philippines having the most expensive electricity in Asia, thought it might be cost effective, depending on panel price.

So for security (outside) lights, and having lights during the sometimes frequent blackouts, still think its worth it. I am not thinking of running fridges, tv's and other appliances.

    cheers, Sid

It is cost effective, but you will not get your money back in months. It is a long term investment. The cost of utility owned electricity will continue to go up. The choice is yours.
