We had the opportunity to visit Andy Grill so here are our comments.

Parking we found a little difficult as was wet, muddy and the street is very narrow, we were able to park over from the resto as not busy.
The resto is kinda open air and welcoming, semi native how ever one does bounce if people walking by as a bamboo floor.

We were welcomed by Andy and his wife which was nice. After chatting to Andy he recommended an Italian wine at P800, he said he imports it and has almost no mark up. Further explained the resto is a hobby as he does not need the money, nice.

The wine was correctly chilled and served, although less dry than expected. We order first the vege soup which came in just a few minutes. Tasty and absoloutly no complaints, nice gesture was Andy reappeared and asked how it was, also complimented us on the slow relaxed way we dined. All good.

Next came the shrimps alio con also, again tasty and enjoyable although there was a hint they perhaps could of been frozen just a tad to long. Finishing with the apple pie we would agree with a previous poster the crust was a little floury and for our taste perhaps a clove or some cinnamon could of added a little extra zing.

Again Andy came and chatted, he asked if he could join us and sat. We listened to him for about 30 minutes before extracting ourselves which did not exactly enhance the evening although he was just trying to be very friendly.

My partner took a picture of the wine bottle as she often does if enjoyed.

As a side note we asked if it was available at all in our regular wine shop here in Bacolod, yes was the reply P330.

Would we return probably not, we shared our dishes, spent almost P1500 and feel this money could be spent on similar food with a slightly improved ambience and privacy.

Andys Golden Grill is one of my absolute favourites here in Dumaguete!
He is a very good chef and he is creating some very nice and goodtasting meals.
A very good place for relaxing, meeting friends and enjoy the distinguished meals.

Living here for a number of years, after working in the US, Europe, and Asia, and enjoying some very nice restaurants, I have adjusted to the restaurants here. I find Casablanca, Why Not, and PastaKing all very acceptable and satisfying. For lunch, bar food here is pretty good and the fish and chips at Katz’s.
We are not living in Paris so it is what it is. We have some good home cooked meals with products from Belcris. You can even find a decent bottle of wine here, if you know where to go. Bon appetit.

    I don't know.
We went to Andys one time because we were in the mood for a steak and I'd heard they had great steaks. The steak was good but not great. The place was nice, we were virtually the only couple there, the service was great, and Andy seemed a nice guy. But the prices by Philippines standards are high. I'd go again and get something bit less expensive than the steak but my wife is adamant that it's too many pesos.

I'm not a foodie and sure as hell did not move to the Philippines for epicurean delights. However, we go to restaurants often and have decent experiences for little more cash than making our own. Thank goodness I am happy with a San Mig Pilsen.

Steaks are rarely well done here. (Pun intended). So I am tempted to ask: Not great compared to what other Dumaguete establishment that has great steaks? Is there such a place? Consistently? I would think that the restaurant would need a secret supply of great meat to make great steaks.

Not suggesting that I'd been anywhere in Dumaguete with great steaks. Truth is I am not a big steak guy; once a month is plenty for me. And I don't need Ruths Chris quality; fact is I've never eaten at Ruths Chris.

As I said the steak in question was good (not great) but fairly expensive. Sometimes decent and cheap is better that good but expensive. Now had it been great that might have been a different story.

Again, I kinda liked the restaurant, the service and the food was good. The question is can I get my financial manager to approve a meal expenditure that's 2-3 times what we'd normally spend.
