I have a 13A Permanent Visa, but this Permanent Visa only lasts 5 years and has to be renewed. Rather annoying, as once my wife and I were married in the UK, the British Authorities treated her like a natural born Brit. Makes you feel second class and never really accepted in this society.

So, make sure to bring your old passport the first time you go abroad/return from abroad, with a new passport.
With one 13A entry stamp in your new passport, it's good to go without the old one.

Don't forget your annual reporting in Jan-feb. Even temporary 13A has to do that. A friend got his temporary 13A and asked if there was anything he needed to do before next years renewal to permanent, and they said 'no'. So, he failed the annual reporting. When he came to convert to permanent, they voided his 13A as he had failed the annual reporting.-
