    I have seen on one occasions where they had their chase bikes parked 50-100m out from the official check-point and were trying to stop people who did U-turns. The chase bike was completely overwhelmed and could only attempt to snatch 1 bike out of the dozen or so that did a U-turn. (Note: they failed to catch the bike in the one instance I have seen this tactic used....not even sure why they tried to chase after a 1000cc super-sport on a 200cc dirt bike, and on a straight open road no less. 1st gear = 120kph in 3-4 seconds :rolleyes:)

    It makes sense. You can't write someone a ticket for turning around before a checkpoint. "I didn't see the checkpoint, I forgot something at home/work and had to go back to get it." Nothing illegal about that. As for why they can't set up check-points in hidden locations:
    Rightfully so: a check-point down on some dark side-road is shady AF and could lead to a lot of problems if manned by corrupt officers....and if you have 10-20 officers in one location the chances are pretty d*mn high that one of them is going to be corrupt and try some shady sh*t.

    On top of that each check-point has a memorandum stating when and where it is allowed to be set up and also what their activities will be. Check-point activities cannot take place outside of the stated area. (Though I'm not 100% that is the case anymore. Things may have changed.)

    The police are so severely restricted in the Philippines because they are so d*mn corrupt. These restrictions are for the benefit of everyone. You don't want these guys running around all over town enriching themselves like they do in Manila.

    I meant;
    Hide until you see 100+ Bikes piling up either side of the first check point, then block the Highway each side the riders trapping them in between, that way 2x Check points backing up the original first check point, but what is the point, here you would then need another two to head off those dodging the outer two check points, and the point is; it would be, well; POINTLESS wouldn't it... :arghh: :banghead:

    Well the one recent Law I would LOVE TO SEE IMPLEMENTED is the one where they mentioned about small children who cannot reach the Foot Rests... THAT would be great to see enforced, just because the kid has stupid parents does not mean they should also suffer the same fate in a worse case scenario...

    Why? Who are they hurting other than themselves? If they don't care about their children then I certainly won't waste my time doing it for them. Being on a motorcycle is likely the least concerning thing that is happening to those kids. You can't fix stupid. Sad that the kid was unlucky and born to retarded parents? Sure. My concern? Not at all.

    People need to take responsibility for their own actions or lack thereof. Put your infant/toddler on a motorcycle and have an accident, don't come crying to me or asking for money when you have to bury your kid. Grab a shovel and deal with your own stupidity. Harsh but necessary.

    Those types of laws are just steps to becoming an authoritarian communist nanny state (Duterte's dream).
    Brilliant leader.

    I agree with you where people live close to town and trikes are available (though not necessarily much safer), but for lots of people out in the boonies their (clapped out) motorbike is the only way they have of getting around.

    The police is corrupt but not on a level like as in Bali. I dunno if it was becoming better since I was there year 1999. At that time every foreigner on or inside of a vehicle was free money for the police. Even having a local driver did not helped. But in that case the driver got fined. Probably an explanation why renting car with driver was so expensive. Therefore be happy that the Philippine police is no so corrupt.

    I have no problem with it. They should be able to live their lives the way they like so long as they aren't hurting anyone but themselves. However, I don't agree that motorcycles are the only way to transport a small child around in most areas of the Philippines. There are trikes and jeepneys available within a short walk to the vast majority of Filipinos. They just have to schedule their trips accordingly. Schools for small children in those areas are usually walking distance or will have some form of public transportation available. The only real excuse for most would be some type of emergency.

    I highly doubt that these rules will be implemented out in the areas where people have no other choice but to put a kid on a motorcycle. There are no LTO checkpoints on dirt trails in the mountains to worry about.

    Reminds me of a fist fight outside one of the bars in Dumaguete. The police ripped his shirt in half so he can file an assault report against a girl :jawdrop:who happened to be with one of the guys who started the fight.
