In my reply to JP's "Bad egg" post, I started thinking, which can be a bad thing, and at times difficult also.
But just wondering if I am the only one that gets all of the extremely negative comments from my "ex-friends" back in the US.
Those comments....."backwards third-world country", "parents routinely sell their daughters" and "only married you for your money". PLUS, many others, and I actually had one person email me to make sure the "terrorists" had not kidnapped me and/or killed me.
And of course, the most popular one before and after I left was "are you f'n crazy?" (if I only had a dollar for each time that question was asked.
I had numerous people ask me how I was going to survive without things like electricity, or a cell phone, and seriously (not a joke) had one guy at my work say that he could never get use to living in a bamboo hut with a "grass roof".
    Am I alone here?
Our my "ex-friends" different than your former friends/neighbors?
Anothe one of my "just curious" type things.

    20 years on!

 Ron, In a word I doubt it, I gave up on my Ex-friends over 15 years ago, apart from the electric thing, on, off, on off, we have all the trappings that are in the UK or the US ( somewhat inferior BUT! ) If you study the world to-day, none, of them will be 1st or 2nd world for very long, I just wonder if they could cope with out their pampered lives. As for selling your daughter ( Some days I wish I could  :D ) you have only to read about some happenings in Bradford England and some other European cities, Certain sects have been doing that for centuries. No one has ever asked me, can we come and Visit, They would be so surprised at how Proud a nation we have come to, Not " Just Curious " at all Ron, well thought out, Very interested in the replies to this one my friend.

When I was working in Spain last year, I was asked do they have a good Beer like SM :D GOT IT, they make it! It is you here that import it ( well of course now there is a Brewery ) Ron, There is so much that people do not understand about this Lovely country, Only what they read on the Smut Pages. What a shame, they don't know what they are missing.

No insult intended (well, maybe a little), but people in the US think that they have more than any other country and the rest of the world is inferior.

I've had friends that were surprised that we have ATM's here. I've been asked what part of the world the Philippines is. I don't hold it against them. I'm equally ignorant about other parts of the world, and my friends here have asked ignorant questions about the states.

    mm Food for thought!

:smile:dodong! we all ask ignorant questions sometimes, we are a nation divided by a common language, Me I am a Brit and yet we speak a totally different English, It is only when we get older that we realise we are really asking the same Questions but in a different way. It is not the Pinoys I worry about it is OUR own Kind that give me Headaches. I have stopped thinking now about before and Think about today, tomorrow and even next week. Hope this makes sense.

Ron8917, for whatever reason, both my family and my friends are supportive of me marrying one so young (we have a similar age gap as you and yours have), they all just want me to be happy and I think that is great - and I am.
At my wedding reception here which my former boss and his wife (U.S.) attended, the singer announced that I had requested a special song to sing for the band . Friends guessed it would be the Marine Corps Hymn, but the singer announced it was G&R's "Sweet Child of Mine". My bosses wife looked over at me and laughed and said, "yeah, sweet child is right"
