My partner and her son gave up on PAL flights Manila to Dumaguete after 3 cancellations all at the 11th hour.... and got tickets on the 2GO Manila to Duma ferry St Michael the Archangel... 26hrs but is not cancelled like the airflights.

It left Manila last Thurs and arrived Friday 3pm. They were met by local IATF staff full PPE outfits... temp checks and documents checked before being taken to the LGU quarantine location of choice for 14 days.... free in city gym or a school or LGU monitored hotel at your cost.

The hotel she is in is strictly controlled with no one allowed to leave their rooms. Food can be from family or the hotel... it is placed on a chair outside each door and they knock and leave. I have been taking food and fruit in daily as there is no refrigerator (groan). I bring to reception after a foot bath and hand sprayed with alcohol and give the LGU guard the room number. Empty containers bags etc cannot leave the room until quarantine finishes.

I outline this to illustrate controls on LSI's returning are strict...in our case.

Now we have another press release from Mabinay, that had two of the cases. One of the returnees was drinking with a friend. Came in May, did not get results until June. Now thy are trying to find the people that were drinking with the person who should have been in quarantine.

We are now going back to March when all of this crazy stuff began. Not because we did not follow the rules, but because the people in charge did not do what was supposed to be done with people returning to the Province.

They are mostly starting from 8th June for domestic flights to selected locations.....but I know PAL have the ok to fly Manila to Dumaguete tomorrow June 3rd and also Fri 5th.. as my partner and her son are on it and were checked in this morning with boarding passes.

You have to have a IATF Travel Authorty (from the local LGU and PNP) which requires approved Medical and Quarantine Certs and the ok from Dumaguete City Tourism Dept/Medical Dept so you are met when the plane lands and taken to an approved prison ,whoops, I mean hotel for 14 days quarantine.

Travel for leisure purposes is not allowed yet.

"self" and "quarantine" don't seem to go together!

In the UK young people are holding "illegal 'quarantine' raves" (one of them had 4000 people) - the police do nothing and when the 'raving' idiots leave the next morning, the tons of rubbish they leave behind is cleared up by volunteers (NOT by people who attended the raves!)

Also, volunteers attended the raves to give out free food and tents in case any of the little darlings were hungry from all their illegal raving - I assume the tents were to ensure they had someone to go for 'other activities'.

People have selfish genes and it makes me wonder at times if democracy works.

You would think that if they knew of the risks of the returnees and that's why we remained on GCQ, they would have dealt with them better, rather than this mess we appear to be hurtling towards now. These guys are nothing short of breathtakingly idiotic.

People have been questioning why THEY were slow to change the quarantine status and did not relax things more.

    Now we know why.

I wrote a piece here before about taking a risk and opening up the economy - but did say that if people enter the island then that becomes a different story.

So two boats we know of so far.

It now all depends on how good the hospitals are in stopping the virus leaving the patient's room and what 'in quarantine' means. If quarantine is in a government building (or requisitioned one, such as an hotel) then the same applies as above. If it is at home then all bets really are off. Is someone going into the 'isolation room' and is that person capable of FULLY understanding 'barrier nursing' and ensuring that NOTHING comes out of the room that is not immediately sterilised. If not, then other members of the house may catch the virus and I assume some member(s) of the family will go out at times.

I read from a Care Home in a Western country that they carried out 'barrier nursing' "as soon as the person showed symptoms". So with all their nursing staff and medical experts on hand, they missed the point of asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic cases spreading the virus - and we all know what has happened in Care Homes.

    Keep your masks on folks.

So after such a long time separated from your wife and child, it is now 'only' 12 days to re-unification.

All the quarantine procedures seems fine so best wishes to you for what you have all been through and soon being back with your loved ones.
