    Ain't gonna happen here, is it. Too many vested interests in the sugar industry. Talk to any local and they still believe that sugar is some kind of health supplement.

    The first time I visited this country I got out of MNL in a taxi and got straight into the infamous traffic. Slowly trundling up the road I started looking at the businesses on the street. The driver was chatty and had asked if it was my first visit. Julie’s Bakery. Dunkin’ Donuts, some ice cream joint, a cake shop all rolled by. I asked the driver if the Philippines had a diabetes problem and about jumped out of his skin. How did you know that? Are you a doctor? Even after some explaining he could not put diet together with diabetes. He really thought it was viral or bacterial and you were unlucky and caught it and then spent your life using insulin.

    I’m guessing the pharmaceutical companies that sell all that insulin are singularly uninterested in that changing.
