Not just that, the risk of getting infected at such a government facility seems a large multiple of what you'd be up against in a hotel.

My step son was tested on arrival in Manila and quarantined in a hotel until the results were known.
Then he travelled to Dumagete for two weeks of quarantine.
Unfortunately (?) his result in Dumagete was positive so he was sent to NOPH for isolation. After a week his next test was negative. He is now taking voluntary isolation at a hotel for two weeks to allay the fears of some family members.

Just an update. So when you arrive in Manila, you are swabbed and taken to the hotel of your choice, and within 24 hours, they give you your result back which was awesome so you don’t have to stay in Manila for that long as long as you’re negative. Within 72 hours, you need to exit Manila for your provincial destination where you will get quarantined for two weeks based on provincial IATF. If you get your results earlier than that, you are allowed to leave the hotel and will be escorted to your home where you’ll have to be under house arrest for the remaining time. Other than the nightmare of the documentary requirements, it wasn’t as bad as I expected.

No, she wasn't positive. We're sure of that after 4 PCR tests. The rules and regulations change so quickly, so please do dig further to find facts as ours might not fit your situation. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

    Hi Roadwitch80,
Im new here but just came into Manila in August via Singapore and eventually onto dumaguete. For me the wheels fell off because they imposed mecq and my onward flight was cancelled. You are required to swab test at the airport lab for foreigners or by red Cross for citizens. You must have approved accommodation booked at a suitable hotel. I allowed 3 days for my test result which came in 24 hrs. The hotel rates is 4270php per night so getting stuck there two weeks was expensive by which time I needed to redo my swab test as it must be within 5 days of onward travel. You also need a medical certificate of good health. I got my 2nd swab test at St Lukes and my med certificate at Makati Medical centre. With these u can organise acceptance with the local government unit. For me this was Valencia and took a day of phone calls. As I didn't fancy the Lgu quarantine facility I did mine in Dumaguete hotel Casa Rubin which Valencia health team endorsed. This was half the price of Manila with daily temp checks by nurse. One the Lgu gives you a certificate of acceptance you can fly. They notify the airline accordingly. You can process the travel authority at the airport only on the day of travel. I really struggled with the process in Manila as a foreigner because you don't match the process for LSI or other and they kept trying to direct me through the nearest baranguy. In the end I ignored the brgy and organised the swab test and med certificate myself. So you can get thru Manila with maybe a couple of nights processing as long as flights run on schedule but you are up for 14 days in Dumaguete.
    Good luck

    I don't know.
It is not that they give better treatment to foreigners. Anyone who is willing to pay to stay at the private facilities can stay there.

Quarantine in some government facility? If I may ask, was she positive for COVID? I was made to understand that we can book ourselves in accredited hotels in dgte while we wait for our results and that government facilities will only come into play if our test results are positive but don’t need immediate hospital care. I am really not keen on checking myself at some govt facility. I’ve seen and read about their facilities and the conditions leave much to be desired.

I feel for you that you have to travel during these times. It isn't easy. When my wife and I were attempting travel back to Kuwait, we thought she might have to go back home to Basay when we were in Manila due to a visa issue, which we luckily had enough money to resolve. We looked into it a bit and it sounded like my pregnant wife was facing a two week quarantine in Dumaguete at some government facility, so most likely there will be a quarantine or two of some sort. Best wishes.
