Thank you ladies for the heads up.

I think what I may do (won't know for sure for another couple more months) is buy a couple of extra pieces of checked luggage that fit within the maximum range of being "under 62 inches" and make sure they weigh "under 50 pounds". These are the PAL max linear inch/weight requirements for a Premium Coach ticket. As of this date, a PAL Premium Coach ticket holder is authorized 2 free checked as long as they meet these requirements. Each additional piece of checked baggage will cost 150 USD each. So I will limit myself to a maximum of two free and one or two excess.

My electronic equipment can go into a small roller bag that is size appropriate for the overhead.

That's the max for me. And quite enough to have to manage.

And for sure, will bring large flat sheets and a few other items that are either hard to find (towels, can opener) or find in my size (underclothing, shoes). I've got a list made from other ex-pat reporting on items such as these, and I welcome any additional input you all may have.

Hopefully, I won't get hit from customs on my in-bound arrival.

Most of the clothing I currently wear is for the colder, rainy Pacific Northwest weather climate. I imagine I will need more lighter weight clothing for wear in the Philippines. I'm assuming long pants and shirts won't be a problem to find there. I wear casual - nothing fancy. So if there is any other clothing article I need to pack, let me know.

    Thanks again!

    V/R,

regarding bed sizes.....there is many sizes here......I have a king size steel coil mattress..............78" long..X 72" ...wide X 8" thick.can get a fitted sheet set here for about 3000p , a bit expensive and only 350 thread count but good quality.

There is a whole variety of sizes and types hereso I guess it depends on what size you need, I got our mattress from dewfoam and they charged 250p to deliver up to Liptong out of Valencia

    Thank-you sandycreekg!

I'm thinking since I'm a party of one for the bed, I'll be bringing US Queen sized flat sheets.

It looks like they will fit the majority of bed sizes below king size, cost less than king size, and take up less packing space.

Besides, I have a few queen sheets at home that are brand new, so I can repurpose them.

    Standard US queen flat sheet = 90 x 102-106

Will make sure I bring a higher thread count as a long-wearing, higher thread count sheet seems to be difficult or a more expensive thing to find in Duma.

I'm actually looking at hotel supply web sites. I found two sites that will sell by the dozen at the minimum, and they also sell pillow cases and towels - by the dozen lot, too.

That should hold me for three years.

two sets of sheets, 4 pillowcases and four bath towels should be plenty for one person for three years. The less you bring the lighter the load.

    For sure.

Just thinking if I get a few more, I wonder if others might need them and I can sell them at my cost if they are that hard to come by, or at a greater cost to buy in Duma. As long as I'm coming, I can bring a little extra and share.

If not, then I'll just bring what I need. But I was thinking about maybe bring a little extra if there is a need.

Feel free to let me know come Spring 2016.

I will be opening an online store when I return to the Philippines and sheets are right on top of the list of things it seems I should be keeping in stock. I'm sure you wouldn't have any problems selling such a thing though.

Oh. Well I don't need to step on your turf Wrye.

If you're going to open a store, then I can hold off - no biggie.

ps. My Sis was sent home today from hospital to Hospice Care at her home.

Sis will be gone soon and my heart is very very heavy. She was the Mother I never had.

Just glad I got to have her in my life for as long I got to have her.

I will be very sporadic in web presence until AUG 2015.

I have much to do these next few weeks - her boys are a mess right now and I'm in the middle of a move.

    Timing sucks....

Your not stepping on any toes. (I might buy a couple of those sheets off of you myself.) Was just sayin' that I had planned on carrying sheets as they are a hard thing to find here.

Sorry to hear about your sister. I can't begin to understand how you feel.
