⌛ art scene -artists in damaguette

coming to visit soon ,looking for other artists or art groups , also ,in chicago many artists rent or buy warehouse space for live work studios , anything like that around?

 

I joined a band in dumaguete who are painters and carvers of wood and drums among them, We tended to center around jutz gallery cafe near the boulevard (next street up parallel to the boulevard same block as casa blanca) ..WE did concerts that doubled as art display show at jutz and at the mall robinsons...I moved to bacolod area with the band up north and we do the same there, one show may 4 and one last saturday and one today,,Mostly music play for now but they keep paintings in galleries in dumaguete and bacolod and manila i think and sell from time to time...Dumaguete and the whole province host a national arts month full of art galas all over the country and its full of events and displays open to artist... when you come there are place to rent that are warehouses but no rael arts district of warehouse used mostly by artist...you may find ware house but more likely next to filth,loud industry and heavy traffic of cargo and loadin/unloading,,,I know of a few in residential /light commercial areas,,,store fronts in town may be nice???

 

seems like I have been beating the drum here lately for the Jutz cafe but yea I would suggest stopping in there and having a chat, get you headed in the right direction

 

I have a 14 year old sister in law and she will be looking for such a group at the end of this coming school year.
I hired her to paint our house with figures and she is very good.
She is thinking of moving on from wall figures and colored pencils/charcoal to oil in the next year and needs all the guidance she can get.

 

jutz and music

thanx tunji , just the kind of info im looking for ,i paint and carve wood also . what kind of instrument and music do you play ? one of my sons is a jazz and rock guitarist and is interested in all kinds of music .

 

I play piano mainly and any kind of music I'm put in I will fit something into it..The band right now is a world music type with mostly interest in world indigenous culture music...I take jazz approach even to rock music and did classical music on harmonica and add synthesizer/beats to the world music band here,,i'm also the sound man,they use my equipment at smaller venues,I have the speaker /amp/mixer/mics/and various processors to make sound smooth and project out...Visit bacolod;there is an arts district by the main robinsons mall and we are part of that here with local promoters trying to make many showings to get the scene going,,much better accomodations in bacolod and commerce overall...

Deviant Art is her favorite website, and a lot of her "anime" drawings are as good as on that website.

 

Not bad for a 10 year old, just kind of odd subject matter...

Hi Jim, there are several local visual artists in the city (my wife Jana included)...they regularly get together, exhibit shows locally and manila. I'm sure you can easily find a studio type space here.
