MANILA, Philippines – An Australian national is said to have been roaming the halls of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport for the past month, begging for money from passengers and employees to buy food and water. 46-year-old Michael Morran, said he sold his mobile phone for 300 pesos to buy food and bottled water and has been left abandoned by the Australian Embassy who has refused to help him return to his country. Morran explained that the embassy’s refusal is based on the idea that his situation is not considered an emergency. The Australian national told reporters that he arrived in Manila in November from Bangkok where he stayed with his Thai girlfriend for over two months. He originally flew to Bangkok in September with enough money to help his girlfriend undergo plastic surgery. Morran told reporters “My girlfriend became pretty after the surgery. But after a couple of weeks her attitude changed.” Morran claims that after he ran out of money, his girlfriend’s relatives beat him up, prompting him to fly to Manila. Officials now say that Morran has not been seen at the airport since last week, leaving authorities to believe he got a ride home, or possibly found another girlfriend who’s family will later beat him up once again.
MANILA, Philippines – a Polish national refuses to leave a Ninoy Aquino International Airport clinic where he has been staying since last Monday. 41-year old Tomasz Chalot Stanislaw, arrived at the NAIA airport last Monday from Butuan City where he spent a four month stint with his Filipina girlfriend. Stainslaw told officials that he hailed a taxi to bring him to a hotel where he could stay until it was time for his return flight back to Poland – but as Stainslaw exited the taxi, the driver sped away with his luggage in the trunk. Left with only his passport in his hand, and no money, Stanislaw said he roamed the halls of NAIA Terminal #1 and #2 to find someone who could help him. The foreigner told airport officials that he slept in the comfort room in Terminal #1 and spent most of the day finding food etc. Stainislaw said he went to Butuan to propose to his long-time girlfriend, who he identified by only her first name of Monalisa. “I promised her that I would be back in a couple of months to prepare everything in Poland, as I planned to bring her there,” he said. Airport attendants found the foreigners sleeping in NAIA bathrooms, they gave him biscuits and bottled water. The same attendants brought Stanislaw to the clinic after he complained of chills. Officials cared for the foreigner even though they believe he had the chills due to taking some over the counter medications – he is currently complaining about not being able to life his left leg, keeping him in the clinic till further notice. . But officials now note that Stainslaw had contacted Poland’s honorary consulate in Manila after he missed his flight back to Poland on China Airlines – now China Airlines refuses to rebook his flight. . The clinic nurses now say that Stainslaw is making excuses to stay in the clinic until officials or the airline approves his return ticket .
Maybe they're waiting for his visa to run out so they can rush to immigration and report him as an overstay for the reward.
If Philippines customs required a passing mental evaluation before allowing entry, there would be like a quarter of the foreigners here. I think I could have passed one before arriving, but after living here for years, I wouldn't be able to pass another one.
Let's see, he paid for his girlfriend to get plastic surgery, then two months in a hotel.....and he wants someone to pay his way home? Sure, I will give him money that I earned to HELP him out. I'm sure he has learned his lesson. NOT!
Don't see why the Oz gov't wouldn't give him a ticket home? They're about to take in thousands of 'refugees' from the middle east. Maybe wrong race, religion or sex perhaps?
