    Hi folks,

Was wondering is there any other options aside from taxi, like bus or minivan, from Bacalod airport to downtown ?

If taxi is the only option do they use their meter, or is it seen as fixed price. Also how much approx by taxi ?

    thanks, Regards.

I asked a simple question in this forum regarding hotels in Dumaguete and got 70 views and no replies, so you may not get any replies here either ... anyway, I can help you.

The New Silay / Bacolod airport is about a 35 minute ride into town, so your only options is taxi or bus. The taxis don't like to use the meter from the airport. The ride will cost about 500 pesos if your the only passenger ... Don't pay more than that. Many times they can take another passenger into town too, so that would decrease the cost by you and the other passenger splitting the fare.

A cheaper alternative is the air conditioned bus that goes directly from the airport parking lot to SM Mall in Bacolod. Just ask anyone outside the terminal where the large bus to SM Mall is parked. The cost I believe is 100 pesos per person. I can't tell you there schedule, sorry. They will let you out anywhere along the route to SM Mall if you just ask the driver ... I suppose you will want to get out somewhere along Lacson Street (main street that goes through Bacolod).

If you do take the bus all the way to the mall, there are plenty of taxis there. Once in town, just tell the taxi driver to use the meter ... usually never a problem with that.

    Enjoy Bacolod,
    Ron

c rymz ... I guess your post was directed towards me ... thank's

Well, after talking to a friend today that just got back from driving from Bacolod to Duma and then returning, I have decided just to go down to Sipalay for a couple of days.

He said that nice Highway 3 (through Kabankulan) that everyone used to travel from Bacolod to Duma on is a total mess with construction everywhere ... so basically unusable till it's completed. He said the only other way is the road that cuts straight across the mountains between Bacolod to San Carlos ... and then take Highway 1 south all the way from San Carlos to Duma ... The problem there is that it's an 8+ hour drive.

So, I am not going to Duma untill they get that Highway 3 finished.

Anyway, thank's for being the only one to help me.

    Ron,

There is a also a third alternative...there are vans (Revo's and similar) which do runs downtown from the airport. Counters near the exit. About 150-200 pesos a person. I'm sure we paid 150 each last time...They wait till the van fills up with customers before they leave so you may be there 15-20 minutes till they are loaded and ready. It's all good fun....by the time you reach downtown....all the filipinos know each other's career paths, travel itineraries, and shoe size. They go to the bus station, hotels, etc....but anything that deviates from that....they charge more...

Dave ... You are absolutly correct. In fact you PM'd me more than once with info.

I should have worded my post better ... I was talking about people responding to the actual post I made here when I said that.

About 2 years ago, there was a big typhoon and there were no flights to Dumaguete from Manila for about 3 days, the only flight was to Bacolod, so I took that flight, arrive Bacolod airport and they have taxis, vans and buses.
We told the van we are going to Dumaguete and how much, they said 7,000 pesos to Dumaguete, after a few bargaining we talk them down to $4,500.00, there were 5 in the group so we split it up and the van took us and drop off each of us to our residence in Dumaguete.
This was 2 years ago, so I don't know how much now.
