As the municipality of Bacong continues to take precautionary measures in regards to the deadly coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), its local government will be imposing a lockdown in the town from August 24 to 31.
To prevent a surge of people to the town, Bacong prohibits its residents to accept visitors, including those who reside in nearby homes and barangays, during the celebration of the feast day of Saint Agustin on August 28.
Within this period, drinking of alcoholic beverages is also not allowed in public areas, and a curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. every day will be implemented.
It also urged everyone to wear a face mask and observe proper social distancing when in public places, adding that violators will be charged with a fine of P200.
To avoid unnecessary crowding, everyone is ordered to stay at home, and the movement of people will only be allowed for employees (with valid IDs) or for essential purposes.
Mayor Lenin P. Alviola has asked for everyone's cooperation to keep the town safe from COVID-19.
Bacong has only recorded two confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic. Both have since recovered.
A 4th class municipality in the province of Negros Oriental, Bacong is situated 8.5 km south of the capital city of Dumaguete

Maybe they could just remove Aug 24 - Aug 31 off the calendar and the fiesta would magically disappear.

It appears to me that they are trying to prevent a coming fiesta date in Bacong from becoming a virus hot spot. You know how our beloved hosts find it hard to resist a get-togther.
