Problem is with some establishments like this, the owner/drivers do not have the appropriate personalities or characters or training or know how, to operate a successful hospitality business.

Whenever I go to a 4ner owned establishment I expect a quality of food, service and cleanliness to be comparable to our home countries. Those 3 ingredients are paramount to getting my consumer dollars.

Cleanliness and service were good at Bambulo and yes the food sucked. But..... their menu was not brain surgery and one must look at the captain of the ship as opposed to the lower man/woman on the team to ensure good food is prepared. I liked the place but quit going 6 months before they closed for reasons stated.

I hope the owners/manager's appreciate our business a second time and get their kitchen in order. I will try it again as everyone deserves a second (third) chance.. I truly hope I am impressed this time as it's close to my home and a beautiful area.......

They have a small sign posted now stating the they will reopen on January 8.... so the rumor is confirmed. They also make some other statement about better food, and free use of admenties but is it not clear if it is only for that re-opening day or a continuing policy. I will try to photograph the sign and post it and you can make you own judgments or mis-judgments.... which every you are better at doing.

Although I am a neighbor of Bambulo Resort and have some of my neighbors who work there, and even spoke to the owner the situation is foggy. Seems like they are closing and putting Bambulo up for sale (information from owner) . The temporary closing could last for a year (information from accounting involved people). Not much information but there really do not seem to be many facts, and there is no reason to start rumors.

I loved the place because I could go to dinner during the week and be almost totally by myself... which may be why they closed. They had a very clean and well operated resort with not much of following. There were people there most of the time but not enough to justify the
cost in my opinion. They are a multitude of reason why a place could close that I will not speculate on. The Owner and the family were good people I am very sorry to see them close.

The girlfriend tried to go today but they were closed. I'm sure it was posted here but I failed to relay that information to her. She will try again later this week.

Do not worry about your misunderstanding the new fees I had to talk to the owner to get clarification. The new fee is really a great deal, because you no longer have to eat the food or drink if you do not desire to do so. The food seemed to be an issue with many people post previously. Again my advice would be to visit from Wednesday thru Friday as it is almost empty those day. Saturday and Sunday family day is usually crowded.

This shows that we all have different expectations. Jollibee burgers are absolutely disgusting to my palate and I have, very reluctantly, tried all the burgers on the menu. Even here in Afghanistan at the European restaurants (operated by Europeans and food imported from Europe) the burger has the same qualities; an over-sized bun with a small slimy-textured piece of "meat". Seems like the meat-sandwich ratio for European burgers is always 10 percent meat the rest bun and some crap sauce between. IMO only ketchup and mustard or mayo is acceptable as a condiment on a burger.....and never should a cucumber be found on a burger (unless it has first been pickled). While Jollibee burgers are crap, IMO, they have some excellent fried chicken....usually, (consistency is not a common thing found in Filipino restaurants, which is why I usually give many chances before I decide to not eat the specific item again).

A side note that hits on @quicktrip burger question: there is a place in Angeles City called Bunny Burger. It's an Australian owned place that served burgers that catered to American, Australian, European and Filipino tastes. (But all of the burgers were really good....even the Filipino one.) This was the first place I had ever heard of beets (beet root for you Aussies) being put on a burger....and to my surprise was quite good. There are many bad things you can say about Angeles and Olongapo, but the food ain't one of them, and expats from many different continents agree. So it is possible for a restaurant to successfully cater to a wide range of expat palates here.

@Oz-Roger: You said you have given Bambulo a second chance, I'm curious if you have done so since they have reopened or if you are basing your opinion on their previous kitchen staff. You are certainly entitled to you opinion but I think that the previous experiences at Bambulo are irrelevant since they have completely revamped the kitchen and menu(?). I had never been to Bambulo myself.....as I had heard their food wasn't that good in the past and I have a swimming pool in my front yard, but I am certainly interested in making a visit now that I have seen some good reviews posted here. Would be nice if some members posted their experiences with specific dishes on this thread.
