You won me over Brian - no more going for quiche when there is already a potential danger! Maybe do with pizza instead.

The amount of rain at your location doesn't really matter. What was happening up the mountain a bit?

True, but would constant rainfall lead to a sudden deluge of water? I still think it came about because of a sudden spillage of a large volume of water.... but then, I am no rocket scientist!

I can add to that... I was fixing the gate here in the rain when I heard a LOUD *KLIK KLOCKING* sound, I stood up wondering what the hell was making the racket, then looked towards the sound, our little stream here which the Sister In-law had just crossed a minute or so earlier went from 12" of water to a 1M/ 1.5M wall of water rushing down, and it was only very light rain here, barely a drizzle! The sound was the rocks bouncing on each other from the force of the water! FIRST time I have ever in my 56 years seen anything like it! And it was MOVING FAST! Had the SIL been crossing there would be no way her or her baby would be with us today!

Sure - you seem an honest person. And I have unsuccessfully been looking for some banana leaves here for some time now.

A higher elevation. Wire transfer works best for me.
