Originally, that was what they said, first one completed, then begin on the other one. Not sure what changed unless it had to do with budget money, a use it or lose scenario.

The latest bulletin said that the Colon - Hypermart bridge would be finished soon. Within 3 months I believe was said. That was about a month ago. The Batinguel one is said to be progressing well and on schedule for next year (can't recall if there's a date, but my guess is second quarter of the year). Mayor Remollo said that city funds have been used to speed up the finalising of the Colon bridge.

The bridge behind Hypermart was the same style as the one near the BIR. The water flow during a heavy storm has the water would flow over the bridge. The bridge got washed away.

That is the Colon St Ext. Bridge, it is finished. They began the other one for two reasons, one the roads are bad, and two, drum roll please, they are actually trying to be proactive and don't want a repeat as to what happened to the other bridge. Amazing as it seems. Of course, if it did happen it would have a more adverse effect on many more people.-

Like many construction projects around here, land acquisition seems to be a huge hurdle (bacong airport, diversion road).... Would have been nice if they had waited on the BIR bridge until they finished the Colon... I just hope they finish at least one bridge before they start the Legarda Road bridge (the road between Palinpinon road and Valencia. I don't see "eminent domain" around here very much.

I was surprised myself to see that video—they did work on it in the midst of pandemic—the budget has to be used-

Since it was mentioned earlier in the thread, let me mention that the street in front of the Valencia Municipal Hall had its concrete poured in the last few days. The concrete truck said UYCONDEV on it, but it appeared the other equipment was municipality (as were probably the laborers.) So, give it a month to cure enough to allow PhilSouth's massive dump trucks to drive over without destroying it and maybe it will be again open to traffic.

That was my reaction. Know someone who works in the contracting section of the municipality who explained that they either have no ability to cancel and re-award, or are reluctant too, not sure which. I gather it's a contractor from Bohol.

We had already agreed to 5% - what happened to it? Oh yes, just remembered where I am.
