    Hello forum,
I wonder if any could tell if the buildings / houses seen at the shoreline of the black and white photo still exist today.

Could anyone tell how Dumaguete will look like in the future?

    Dumaguete is growing indeed.

Black and white - book entitled "A Woman's Journey through the Philippines by Florence Kimball Russel, published in 1907"

May I ask where you saw the book? I am interested in history of DMGTE.
    Thanks

    Ronin, thanks for answering RHB

In addition to RHB, that book has electronic versions that you can search on or download from the Web. The copyright gave permission to have it shared to anyone.

The photo (the belfry) that you have posted is one of the things i will do when I come home this Christmas. I will take the picture from the closest spot where the photographer took it 100 years ago. Or if somebody from Dumaguete can do it for me, i will be please to post it together.

    Happy reading on the book.

I was just down there taking pictures two days ago. It may be possible to dupplicate the shot, but I think,(depending on the focal length of the lens)that there will be many things obstructing the view. I would be happy to try for you, just for fun. I have a Nikon D-50 with 25-70 and a 50-200 tele.

Boom'E'rang, it's a great find!! My pop once has this old big illustrated book of world war II and there were some pictures of dgte on it, but it's a pity, the book was broken into pcs and the rest of the pages just got lost. i wonder if there are still old books like those? It's really exciting to see a few pics of old dgte. more power!!

Arriving Dumaguete in 1911 - Dumaguete

Hi mommyseksi, there's another old pic of Dumaguete in 1911 from a post card. Just open the thread - Arriving in Dumaguete in 1911. The pinoys are all in white. If there are no coconut palm trees, the pic could be mistaken as in Africa. Good luck!
