Siquijor Best beaches in Siquijor?

Sorry about the privious WAK WAK comment....joke joke.... I wasn't meaning to scare anybody or thwart off any of Our Filipina members from travelling to Siquijor. It's that certain Mystic about Siquijor that keeps Me going back there, not to mention the Friendliness of the People and the much less congested feeling, especially when riding around the island whether on a motorcycle, on a bicycle or on foot.....

If it is indeed your fav island you should know where the best beaches are? Otherwise your input is useless!! You never swam there? That makes little or no sense - what did you do use the pool?

I just went around the entire island of Siquijor and stopped and looked at many of the resorts. I thought many were disappointing.

I have to say that for peaceful beauty Bulakna is zen like. The beach beautiful on a clear day but it is not necessarily tourist friendly (rocky in places). You would get very bored here if you wanted excitement though.

Just down the road is what I would consider the best beach, Salagdoong. I enjoyed jumping off the rock formations into the aqua water. There is white sand and you could also bring a mask and snorkel if you wanted. It reminded me more of the wild swimming areas in Hawaii. It is not a tame beach but it is beautiful to see and for the young at heart.

I personally love the area near Maria, Siquijor because it is so peaceful and quiet. A couple days here would be enough though if you were just a tourista.

I think that most times of the year you could just drop in to any resort and get a room for the night. I would suggest renting a motorcycle or car before going to Siquijor (via ferry) and then hopping from resort to resort.

 

I own a resort there and I reckon you get what you pay for. Go cheap, you might be disappointed, but there again you may not.

 

Actually, just to be fair. When I said most resorts were disappointing, it was not in harsh way. Some of them just did not fit my expectations of a resort. I am not sure what the prices were between them.

I just imagined someone coming to Siquijor for a 1 or 2 week vacation and was thinking that they might have more fun if they stayed in several different resorts for 1 night each because each resort does seem to have different variations between its beach, pool, or rooms.

 

...and here is the problem: most of the reorts are very selfish and not open for that kind of business you have mentioned. There is indeed the possibility to try various different resorts with different opportunities. But sad as it is: most of the reorts are "one time business" orientated due to their philippino management. I tried to organize to find a better relationship a couple of years ago the result: pure hate and not any knowledge of torism business orientated behaviors. Sad to say: if this continues (and it looks like for it); Siquijor will stay forever in a very deep sleep for a very long time...

 

Not sure I agree with your opinion, isn't that the beauty of Siquijor, a "bukid island"? The overwhelming "underdevelopment" of the place? If one wants the place to become another 'Boracay', I for one, would sell my properties and clear off.

 

ha, ha, ha! Another Boracay!... Lightyears away! These propaganda announcements from the politicians here...

We have already 500% more Resorts on the island in only 4 years, other 10 upcoming... In the same time almost not more guests, bad service and no interesting infrastructure, beaches kept away, often dirty and not maintained... C'mon, how many Resorts generate multiple repeaters and in general 2-3 week guests? I hope, you know why!...

I'm also here because I know this Island will remain w/o mass tourism; on the other hand: a bit more interest in the tourists and not ony in their wallets would not harm the name of Siquijor that much anymore.

Only one excample: the first service of a non booked guest: walking with laguage a long way down to the waiting tricycle and multi cab mafia at the Siquijor pier, where the guests get betrayed by much over prized fares for transfers to the resorts...

 

Threats of turning it into another Boracay started a very long time ago, Ramos I think, though my impression is most locals don't really want that. Personally, I don't think future development really is a ' huge quantum leap of the imagination'
Recently, there's been quite a bit of road improvement, (farm to market etc), imagine what could possibly happen in Fua's next term as governor, maybe even the airport might open and medical facilities be upgraded etc etc, if they throw enough money at them.
Each business deals with trying to attract it's customers, long term, multiple visits etc differently, up to each individually to provide a set of services/environment to encourage them to do just that, I guess.
Don't think it's up to the island/islanders to change, e.g. to have bars, discos, roadside cafes etc etc and alter their everyday life for a comparatively, small number of people who visit for however long, each year.
As for parting people from the contents of their wallets, I haven't seen anything significantly different in Siquijor behaviour, from elsewhere in the Philippines.
As for the long walk to the gate from the boats, that's a PPA issue, being thrown to the "transport wolves at the gate" I fear, is also a Dept of Tourism deal, not a Siquijor problem.
