That might happen occasionally, but maybe the Honda & Yamaha dealer in a neighbouring city not too far away has that particular model to do a test drive. I do remember that a dealer can arrange for a test drive with the importer, they have always 99% of models available for a test drive. But distances in the USA are a bit more than in a tiny country like Holland.
But for example the Yamaha Mio in the PH is a very popular model and well sold so it pays back when a shop owner can offer a test drive and after one year that test model goes for a nice price; though...... Seen motorbikes in showrooms taken back when the owner stop paying the monthly instalment, when I had a look on the price tag, guess what, same as a brand new. So still don't understand the PH way of marketing or doing business. But I am a kano of course.

The Yamaha Mio 125 is actually a 110, check the crankcase. I have one that is almost 3 years old and still runs great. If you plan on going hill climbing such as the JAP shrine, you are better off not getting a mio, scoopy, or beat. The belt slips if under a severe load like 1 kano and 3 kids uphill.

Correction: The new Mio 125MX is actually 125 (124.9), not 110. Lots of engine changes from the older 110.

Maybe the 110 on the case is the oil capacity? 110cc? or 1.1L

The original Mio is 113.7 cc, the new Mio Soul is 124.9 cc.

For oil change you only need 800cc, the Yamaha dealer in town has these special cans with that content.

I think most owners are more than happy with the Mio; at least I am. My Mio is now 44 months old, mileage 18000 km and the only costs involved were periodical maintenance, oil, spark plug, change tyre. For city rides is a great bike. Fuel consumption, depending on driving style, how many passengers and flat or hilly roads, I sometimes notice 1:40 or more. In general is roughly between 1:35 or 1:40. I only wish that the buddy seat should give a bit more comfort. After 30 min. really don't know how to sit. So for long rides, not ideal, but a ride to the city will never last 30 min. so for daily use no problems @all. Think will keep the Mio till 5 years old and than a nice give away for somebody of the in-laws and my next bike: guess twice: Mio of course.

Ok....it's an old thread that I would like to revive and ask the original question (which was never answered): Are the Kymcos any good? I believe they are Taiwanese which is not-quite-Chinese, not-quite-Japanese (quality-wise). I am looking for a new scooter. I checked the Hondas, but it looks like their biggest scooter engine is a 125. I'm a sizeable ex-pat, and I am not sure a 125 will be adequate to get me up the hill to Valencia on a regular basis (where I am establishing residence.) I am a newbie to scooters and motorbikes, and want a scooter due to the ease of operation....so I can pay attention to driving rather than shifting...at least while I get used to the "interesting" traffic.

Kymco, I believe, makes scooters with larger engines to haul my heft. Are they any good? The Kymco website makes no mention of a dealer anywhere. Can someone tell me where the Kymco dealer actually is in Dumaguete? Thanks!

The Kymco dealership is on the national highway just north of Siliman Avenue.
I have never owned one but I am told they are good. There are millions of them running around Taiwan and they sounded healthy as they zoomed past.
