My Wife and I are completely dissatisfied with our Daughters attitude after only a few months at Silliman, does anyone have a recommendation for a college here?

guess you are here long enough to know the answer.

Having said that, I have the feeling that in other schools they don't go through that insane brainwashing like at Silliman.
In the very unlikely event that I am still here in 2 years, I most likely send my boy simply to NORSU and try my best in educating him proper with the right attitude and available other knowledge sources....

    It's only downhill from Silliman.

    Her "attitude"?

Rebellious and defiant, she's hanging out with spoiled kids from well to do families.
Kids raised by their Ya-Yas that are used to getting their way.
And it's rubbing off on her.
Got to get her out of there before it's too late.

At least I am not alone anymore on DI saying something like that... that describes almost perfectly the feeling I had 1 minute after stepping on the campus without even talking to anyone. It did not get better in the last 6 years.

it is simple with simple people from different "social classes", don't overdoes that religious bogus. Probably not the best education (well, whatever that means by local school-standard), but certainly allows the parents to have appropriate influence on the child to develop the child with a bit common sense and without that "we are the best" attitude

Thank you, I will be checking it out today. I know where their campus is and one of the things I like is that its far away from the downtown party scene.

I understand what you are saying, but maybe it's time for her to be a little rebellious and have her own mind? "There are two things we can hope to give our children; roots and wings..."

I know a lot of Silliman grads. Seems to be a nice group to be in. Better than schooling with the kids with no imagination elsewhere. Though if you could swing sending her to Cebu, she'd get better schooling.

I'd opt for the best school in town, and struggle through having to be a little more strict with her.

So far during our first year, i am quite happy with st pauls, away from downtown and they appear to take the teaching seriously

I originally wanted my daughter in silliman but she could not get in so we opted for st pauls. They appear to have a mire christian focus which appears in the way they handle the kids but it is not forced on you

    Cheers

I wonder what makes you think so. There is no international acknowledged degree you can achieve there. what makes the school better than others.

I had a lunch with a IT-Teacher and asked what Silliman IT-student can do with that certificate that after study. Answer: I don't know, maybe a job at a call-center.

I would really love to believe that this is the best school, but can't find much evidence of that. most successful degree-holder from there have "coincidentally" the right family-names.
