The law in Maine requiring Christmas decorations to be removed by January 14th seems reasonable. We need a law like that limiting when decorations can go up and when carols can be played in shopping malls.
Didn't even notice the carols this year, though the landlord left the front house to go to Zamboanguita for the holidays because of people singing in the parking lot. I don't see a problem with the lights and decorations staying up, it's their electrical bill and if they want to be tacky year round that's on them. (Different in the West where it could hurt neighbors property values though.)
Quite true. It is cheaper to keep the laws on the books and disregard them than it is to repeal them. Hence so many silly laws from years gone by.
I think the lawmakers should "waste" more time getting rid of these laws......the less they do the better off we are.
Agree, because there is always some A**hole who will try to use an old law to try and harass people. Thinking Ambulance chasing lawyers, Police, DA etc...
We need sunset laws. Any law not re-passed every 5 years expires. We don't need 20 to 50 laws against any infraction, 2 or 3 should do. The tax code should fit on a five page pamphlet. Representatives who miss more than 10% of the votes should be replaced with the runner up, as they are employees and should not have a guaranteed salary no matter how little work they do or how much work they miss.
Given the ineptitude of Congress the US would spiral into anarchy shorter after the 5th year this law was put in place.
Anarchy that may accidently spiral to destruction as opposed to carefully being guided to destruction? Not much to pick from is there? 5th year, I was hoping for sooner.
