Black Bugs in Flour and Rice

    They called bokbok locally. Seems not to concern locals much.

    I like my rice without the extra proteine, a strainer with the right size wil get most of them out and the leftover of what they have been eating. The dust.

    After straining, wash the rice good to get the last floating.

    We got somez since joining the panic buying and got more stocks in the house. I do believe the rice comes with eggs so you buy ykur rice included the bokbok.

    This is the first time I've had them in the rice. Never seen them when buying the local cheap rice but I don't really like the texture of that stuff. I tried out a more expensive imported long grain this time and started seeing them. I think I will just go back to the jasmine rice.

    I rarely use flour (barely use a kilo over the course of a year) so that isn't much of an issue. I did strain the four to get all the bugs and maggots out and haven't seen any since.

    As far as i see them, the bokbok does not prefer any rice. In my brown, black and red rice they come and mostly they prefer corn meal.

    Happens when you keep it longer, which happens to me because i dont eat enough rice...

    We use Miponica brown rice sealed in bags and in 4 years the wife says we have never seen these bok bok.... try it you'll like it :smile:
