    DUMAGUETE CITY, May 18 –A blue whale, the largest animal on Planet Earth, was spotted one fine summer day in May off this city and other parts of Negros Oriental to the delight and surprise of many residents. The rare sighting of the endangered blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus) Tuesday afternoon sent marine mammal experts and environmentalists buckling down to work to document its activity and perhaps shield it from potential threats through public awareness.
