But that is for a high power generator that can handle the whole house. Here is a small one, almost 1kw fine for just going online and powering a few fans and a tv: https://shopee.ph/Fujihama-Portable...vbxLrZ_NtbqARnQf6XczrqjWEX46PyShoCYUUQAvD_BwE

    Cost; p5500

There are many more but I like this because it us made in Japan (I think)

I think FujiHama is a pinoy brand, trying people to assume to be Japanese (Fuji). I am not 100% sure tough and no idea what this means if they make quality products or not. There are more local brands like FujiDenzo jumping on the Fuji recognition.

I am hesitant to get a generator, mostly because I fear the cure (noise) might be worse than the illness (no power).

I have read that there are some generators that are no more noisy than a telephone ring tone. Have not seen one yet, maybe someone has some info on this.

DU EK SAM used to sell a 2 kw Honda generator. The 2000i is an inverter type generator. The gas engine runs only as fast as is required to meet the Kw load. They are very fuel efficient and quiet. You can parallel two units if the load is too big.
I would have bought a couple when I built my house but they were expensive.

Do they produce Pure sine wave electric? If not they could damage the appliances.
Another way to beat the brownouts, is use an inverter and deep cycle batteries. Some inverters charge the batteries or use solar panels to charge the batteries.

I know what you mean but long ago I concluded that no power was by far the worse of two evils. Need AIRCON to sleep. My wife could probably go back to no aircon/Internet/fans/lights (get out the old petromax) etc. I would check in at a hotel if no power all day. Fortunately we are in a more rural area; noise could be a problem with neighbors in denser urban environments. If I had to I would add a muffler which really quiets them down.

I don't know if it's a pure sine wave. The output will be a pulse width modulated wave form. With a small inductor and a few capacitors it should be close enough to a sine wave so as not to damage appliances.
The price was pretty high and being from Honda I would expect a fairly decent product..
