How many brown outs are there in a month? I heard that they usually happen on Sunday. If so, for how long are these brown outs?

oh yeah. it always happen on weekends... so brace yourself... you should think of something else to do, than staying in the house.

    the ATMs are down.

usually 8hrs... sometimes, if your barangay is lucky, brownout happens half-a-day only... brownout here is like after every two weeks

So the brown outs are random or do they happen mostly on Sundays? Is there any reason given for the brown outs?

Good thing that I have surge protectors and AVR's for my expensive electrical equipment.

Maybe I will get a generator.

Be sure to check your meter and make sure its your meter and only supplying electricity to your residence. Sometimes the meter is routing current to several homes and the foreigner pays the bill.

when the brownout lasts for 2-8 hours, it's either the power company or the electric cooperatives that are doing preventive maintenance or replacing new electrical equipment/machines.

they used to do it on saturdays but moved to sundays because some schools, banks and other offices operate on saturdays also, only a few on sundays.

    Good to know. thanks Spectre.

I just dont want to have to worry about food in the fridge and stuff like that. 2-8 hours I can live with.

That suits me, no karaoke on Sundays blasting out,
bad singers + tuba = annoying Filipinos.
