That would be Omega store. Good choice of place to buy, as they can get parts if needed for things they sell.

I got mine 2 typhoons ago. I think December of 2011 was when I bought it. Still runs and generates power and doesn't blow black smoke everywhere. Starts up easily even after sitting for months without use. There is a slight idle problem (pulsating), I just slightly tweak the choke and it's good. Some basic maintenance would likely solve the problem but I'm taking the filipino approach to maintenance.

It's loud though, as most generators are. Wish I had installed it in the back and not near a window. O-| live and learn

With the correct exhaust and an insulated enclosure you can easily cut the noise in half, if not more.

Hehe. I never thought of it that way, just stating the facts. Most newer large generators have adequate mufflers along with an insulated housing, without both they too are very loud.

Mine does not have the enclosure. The Honda version does not either. Basically a lawnmower engine and a gas tank on the top enclosed with tube framing. Perhaps the Honda has a better muffler. I was stupid and had it installed 2 meters from the living room window. I only run it, on average, once a month so not really worth spending any extra cash moving it around the back or building an enclosure. Just shut the window and turn up the TV. (it also makes it harder to hear my gf complaining....kinda look forward to those brown outs).

Hehe - understandable. When I was in a truck club, long, long, ago, our answer to generator noise was locking the generator to a tree far, far away, and running a ridiculously long extension cord. It was normally so far away you couldn't hear it at all, and people were occasionally sent to "hike" to the generator to refuel it. Newbies - "but how will we find it?" "Follow the cord!"

For blocking out "extraneous" noise earplugs work great here. If your hair covers your ears, no one needs to know!

Both Handyman and Citihardware have them for less than 50p a pair.

Well the cost of wire here was why I decided to mount it so close to the house. I didn't even try to hide the wires, just let it hang from the roof to the generator freely to save a couple meters of wire. That's what I get for being so cheap. Should have spent the extra 600 pesos to mount it in the back. It's amazing how fast you lose the concept of money in this country. When I'm in the US 15 dollars is really nothing, but get to the Philippines and I'm appalled at the thought of spending over 600 pesos on most items. I think in pesos, not dollars, here.

Guess I need to grow my hair out for those ear plugs. But I've shaved my head so long I'm kinda worried a bald spot or gray hairs that might have formed over the years though (have a gray hair gene that hits the males in the family in their 30's). I am feeling pretty old right now having an accident recently, guess I'll stick to my selective hearing and loud discos to avoid the bitching. Maybe if I'm lucky the excessively loud music will make me go deaf.
